Im bit unsure what to make of this, my core 2 "gaming" set up only scores 100 (aprox) more cpu points in 3dmark06 than my am2 "media center" set up

I suppose what i really want to know is if this sounds right, although i looked at toms hardware cpu comparison somebody posted on another thread and a 6400 allendale apparently gets 1800 odd cpu points i would atleast ecpect that?

Right system 1 "gaming"
680i LT mobo, E6320, geil ultra 2gb - scoring 1600 odd

System 2 "media"
AM2 3800x2,Abit NFMV2 mobo geil ultra 2gb scoring 1500 odd

Would a bios update maybe help??

Is the CPU clocked at all?
Does the 6400 not run at 2.1ghz and the 6320 at 1.8ghz? The Am2 is 2ghz at stock I think and I seem to remember clock for clock, especially at low end with no clocking the Am2's and C2D's were much closer together performance wise.
Maybe that was price/performance though...

The 6320 is a lower clocked equivelent to e6600 and e6700(conroe core, 4mb cache etc twice the cost of 3800x2 btw), this is where my knowledge is a bit sketchy so please correct me if im wrong! If the e6400 which is an allendale core 2mb cache at 2.13 ghz, i would expect a 1.86 ghz conroe to match it?

Latest whql drivers from nvidia, although 3dmark06 i believe in the cpu test is limited fps so gpu performance have minimal impact on the score.

sorry i should have made more emphasis on how different the score is between them.

Not sure what you mean? Would'nt think the score would be much higher with an E6400 since clockspeedwise its not that much faster plus the 4mb might help the other chip a little, though not that much imo. Theres quite a few apps out there that won't care one way or another if its a 2mb or 4mb chip and they perform just about equal.

Maybe your C2D is throttling itself or something due to heat. As it should woop the X2.

Or maybe speedstep has kicked in for some reason and its running at low speed.
