Why why why Will Smith? Why not Clive Owen?

I Am Legend is such a brilliant story, but Hollywood as usual have probably massacred it.

Just had a look at the story, sounds like it could be a great film if done properly. I remember watching The Omega Man as a kid and really enjoying that. I assume they chose Will Smith because he's a bigger box office draw than someone like Clive Owen.

You really have to read the book, its got a great twist at the end. I hope they haven't changed it.

apparently its based more on the omega man plot then the original book. Shame really. I have confidence in will smith though.

Just bought the book for this after seeing the trailer.

Hopefull get it read over the summer then prepare to have it destroyed by this movie in the winter

I like Will Smith though, his recent acting efforts have been great.

I really enjoyed reading the book and when I heard that a film was being made I had high hopes for it. Although I do like Will Smith this isn’t a role I can see him doing particularly well. He plays the funny action hero part well but for this film I think they need someone a bit more gritty.
