Hi (OCUK dont sell the ps3 - didnt come up on a search and browsed couldnt find it or ps3 accessories)

Do you guys have any idea the cheapest place to get ps3 games and the ps3 from?

Ive decided ill probably get a console instead of buying more pc games and im looking to get a blue-ray player anyway so the ps3 seems ideal. (for my HDTV)

I used to have a xbox360 ages ago (with oblivion and GRAW). I liked it but it was noisy. Liked the controller for it as well but i guess i can purchase other controller types for the ps3 anyway? e.g. Wheel, Mouse hybrid thingy.

btw will the ps3 version of FF13 be ps3 exclusive? (think this is the one out on ps2 atm)

I meant to say : are there other negatives i should be aware of regarding the ps3 apart from that there arent many games for it atm?

Does it matter if i get a US, Japanese import version? Are the games and blueray region free?

Bit hazy I think, Square Enix seem a bit off with the PS3 due to the sales lacking.

It will definately be a PS3 only game for a good while I expect though not so sure if it will be exclusive forever.

Don't get a Jap/US one because you won't have a warranty, PS3 games are region free, Blu-Ray/DVD ain't, not sure about PS2 games.

I think some of the best bargains are to be had second hand from the forums, You see ones with 9 months warranty left, 3-5 games + extra controllers for £350 going (with some bartering), I've bought/sold a few and made enough to keep one myself..

The PS3 is region free for games, but not for BluRay movies. So if you got a US model, you couldn't play UK BluRay movies, but you could play UK PS3 games.

Also if you had a US model, you couldn't play UK PS2 games.

If I were you I'd search around some local electronic shops for in store deals. I've read quite a bit about people getting great locals deals on PS3s. Probably because few people are buying it (high price) and they need to get rid.

Personally I'm not getting one. At least not in the near future. Its just ever since E3 2005, Sony have repeatedly lied, manipulated and treated their fans, especially PAL people terribly. How they handled the EU launch was a disgrace. I went from a total Sony fanboy, to a hater all because of them :(

Now I just pray FFXIII arrives on the 360

I got my PS3 for £380 with Resistance from HMV using student discount.

The guy behind the till forgot that student discount doesn't apply for console purchases. :D

In effect it would've been about £350 without Resistance. :)

There are loads of region-free US Blu-Rays. Personally I would stick with a UK model unless you find one too good to refuse.

Another reason to get a UK one is Backwards Compatibility with PSone and PS2 games, UK games will only work on a US console.

I bought one of an auction site recently for £320.

It was the console, a copy of motorstorm, casino royale in blu-ray, hdmi cable and the official blu-ray remote.

Nice console, but would be much better with a decent media centre with xvid/divx playback. And yes, I know you can remotely with TVersity or Nero, but the quality is poor.
