Hey question here.

Is it a "legal" requirement to have a double door between a toliet and a kitchen? I know some houses have them, but is it the law? Our last student house didn't have one, and we're thinking of taking out htis one, as it is literally always open and blocks off a good chunk of the room when open!

Anyone know anything about this?

Yes, as has been said it is in the building regs. Don't be tempted to remove it anyway, because with the new homebuyers pack(or whatever it's called this week)if work done on the house dos'nt meet building regs, then selling will be a big problem.

I could be wrong about this, but i believe that regulation is out of date and that nowadays you don't need two doors between a toilet and a kitchen.

You are indeed correct Sir.

MAIN CHANGES IN THE 1992 EDITION

This edition of Approved Document G,Hygiene, replaces the 1990
edition. The main changes are:

Kitchen separation: the guidance has been amended to make it clear
that a lobby is not required to separate a space containing a sanitary
convenience from a space used for the preparation of food (see
paragraph 1.2).

Problem solved. I'll prob put it back when we move anyway, but at least I know it's not illegal :)
