I dont think its just a US thing. Here in Aus kids are driving V6/V8 Holdens and Fords (mainly Utes), and Rice mobiles. Mitsubishi Lancers are popular, with exhausts you can stick your arm down. Oh and Scoobys are everywhere.

This should give you an idea.

Gas is cheap here, $2.66 a us gallon for the 87 stuff, $2.91 for 93.

Pickups seem to be the norm. Oh and here you can have a concealed gun licence ;)

Its true.

UK insurance sucks penis :p

Down here you get learners in Straight 6s, V6s and V8s.

With insurance being between $300-$2500AUD for people between the age of 16 and 20(depending on the car and on the age of the person)

IIRC, over there, insurance is based on the driver, not the car.

True,and most i know get trucks not cars.like a F150 or 1500 both V8
there is no mot in FL or road tax.

you get what they call a tag and liitle yellow sticker that goes on to your number plate.

and to **** you all here even more if you want a diff number plate
lets say OCUK it will cost you a MASIVE $45 :D

plus tax at 6.5% and about another $50 for other things.
and your number plate stays with you for life not the car.

No swearing - any more will result in a suspension.

Zefan.

One of my friends (aged 19) recently moved to California, in the UK he drove a Mini One.

He now drives a black Nissan 350z GT, and he is by no means super sweet sixteen style rich.

They're pretty cheap, you can pick up a fairly new one for around $17,000 fully kitted.
