Citoren C5 HDi, one of the best motorway crusiers ever made. It seems to have a bad reputation though :(

I think the warrenty of the suspension is only 100K miles so at 100,001 in typical Citoren fashion if would fail and cost a fortune to repair.

That is of course if the electrics don't die first!

well he has spent the day browsing autotrader and although he isnt a great fan of Ford it looks like its going to be a 2005+ 2.0TDCi 130 LX, looking at £5-7K.

Thanks for the help chaps, i'm still trying to figure out how he plans on doing a potential 90K a year.

Oh? Why is that?

PSA have made some of the best diesel engines put into cars and vans over the years. I would be suprised if they sold Ford a duffer, especially as I have a feeling they sold Ford the HDI engine rebaged...

Ford mostly use 2 breeds of diesel at the moment, an in house one, and a joint effort with the french.

And the french one doesn't match the bhp/mpg of the other high pressure injection diesels about.

There is a Peugeot diesel which uses an additive (refilled at service) which works well.
