    Free memory mis-reporting, possible?

MS Server 2008R2. The application is largely bespoke, but essentially crunches through large file indexing jobs. The next step is to disable the paging file to see where that leaves us, unfortunately this would require downtime as the server is live with users remotely connecting to the...

    Free memory mis-reporting, possible?

Afternoon all, We have a couple of fairly beefy servers running a 3rd party product. The servers are quad Hex core with 120GB of ram running a system which concurrantly runs a series of "engines" on the box, one engine per CPU core. Since installation, the performance of the system has...

    DL380 G5 silent fans?

Hi there, I am currently in the process of consolodating my server setup onto a rack mount DL380 G5 using ESXi. The server lives in my datacentre (read cupboard under the stairs) and is therefore within earshot of the rest of the house. Therein lies the problem, the little whiners installed...

Restarting a server... not as simple as it sounds

I love ILO - seriously (although "high performance mouse" issues on the old versions could cause violence)

    Which nas???

Getting an iSCSI NAS may improve your performance, although you still have to 'present' this through another machine or server.

    DHCP scopes in W2K3

As previously mentioned (but maybe not practical in your setup) - a nice way is to seperate the network up into VLANS - i.e one VLAN for servers, one for workstations etc etc. Then set default gateways on each of the VLANS - the DHCP server will then assign addresses based on which gateway the...

    Ubuntu Not Booting

Indeed, could be a graphical issue... Try booting into Ubuntu Recovery mode from the Grub menu Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf Find the monitor section and delete all the lines for bigger res' than 800x600.. Save and reboot; should then at least try and boot at 800x600. Jamie.
