Not Speyside but try an ardnamurchan, just across the water from Tobermory... Why do you want a Speyside if you like the peated Islay ones? There's a couple of smoky Ben riach's a 10 and 16 maybe... Nice but not sure what a bottle goes for...

Whisky distillery tour of Scotland without car?

The selection of unknown "interesting" whiskies is probably still worth it! They have a load of the production facilities for JW as single malts... yeah, that's the one

Whisky distillery tour of Scotland without car?

tbh I hated the Johhny Walker roof top bar - although it does have an amazing view from the terrace. The rest of it's a bit try hard for me and ends up feeling like an airport lounge, it's not dark and dusty enough! The whisky bar in the whisky experience has a huge collection! There's also the...

Whisky distillery tour of Scotland without car?

That looks like a pretty decent tour, be interested to hear your thoughts on the visits, I see lindores abbey is in there too? Dalwhinne is one of the prettiest distilleries too (from a distance)

    Finding eco-homes...

Look for "custom build" developments - there's a few site around where you can spec some of the stuff, unfortunately developer led housing generally is difficult to make stack up so you find the spec is limited - new housing association and council housing is about the only volume stuff where...

    TCL 6 Series

I'm in the market for a 55" TV for a second sitting room - budget is tight so have been looking at second hand ones, but I've also seen the TCL 6 series on sale just over £400 which on paper looks like a good deal - my needs are pretty much a general purpose TV not gaming (yet) but maybe a bit...

you're right, 1 wash and 2 spirit, too many technical terms! definitely not like the Loch Lomond (their stills are pretty crazy!) As far as my relatively amateur knowledge base goes... more copper contact should give a lighter/more fruity flavour in the spirit

Yeah, it all goes through the pot still then half goes in each spirit still, the smaller the still the more contact with copper...

The OCUK Whisky (and Whiskey) review thread

Most scotch which is triple distilled will go through two stills (twice through the spirit still), it's generally the way that Scottish distilleries operate. Irish distilleries tend to have three stills. Lindores abbey have three stills, one pot and two spirit stills, the whisky only ever goes...

The OCUK Whisky (and Whiskey) review thread

Technically you could triple distil with one still - it's not how many stills you have, it's how many times it goes through the distillation process...

Something special to do around Vancouver

Sea plane is pretty cool, think they go out of North Van, there's also some hot springs that you can get to by rib from tofino, but maybe a bit of a trek across the Island... You can get some small boat tours to go around some of the inlets too around gibsons which is pretty interesting

Your Favourite Cheeses Over The Festive Period

We used to get a whole stilton, gouge out a bit of the top of it and pour in a load of port, the longer you can leave it the better (and the more port you can add!)

Pergol.a standalone - planning permission / permitted development
