Thanks. I noticed that thread and did try out connecting different cables. The thread mentions that the OP connected a 4pin to the 8pin CPU, but i had the 8 pin connected to the 8pin cpu. There are actually 2x 8pin CPU sockets on the motherboard so i connected both but there was the same issue.

It generally occurs when you mix metals inside the loop.

I agree with that previous guy apart from the value PSU part. It's just not worth skimping on a PSU to find it can't handle what you want it to and blow up taking all your expensive stuff with it.
