Yes something odd about the pcmark , although tbh I would not worry about it to much as you know the laptop with the spec you are thinking of will run excellent especially with a SSD drive. Im 99% sure it will not void your warrenty , however to be safe I would just give dell a quick call...

Id say go with the Alienware there built well and Dell have excellent support. Yes you can change the hdd to a ssd one yourself via the back pannel , very simple :D

Id say take it apart and try fixing it befor you right it off :D Obvious things I would try Strip down and remove all dust via an air duster . clean thermal compound and replace the GPU & CPU with ICD 7 compound . re do all the ribbon cables and connections put it all back...
