    Alternative to a Nissan Micra?

No actually, lots of 1.4's,1.5's & 1.6's low milage examples out there. IMO the civic is a way better car than a shaky old Micra, better handling, build quailty & maybe even reliability. ---------------------------------------------------- 2000 X Reg HONDA Civic 1.4i SE3 Doors...

So anther care bites the dust.

Paras, sounds like you have gotten friendly with this guy which is a big no no in businiess. I can't imagine what he thought pulling over on to the hard shoulder in poor visibility conditions, thats the worst thing you can do. The hard shoulder is really dangerous place to be in those...

Idiots guide to washing a car

It may sound long winded, but when you get 'good' at cleaning your car you'll find it takes less & less time. Your able to identify which bits need attention & which bits dont, quicker. At the end of the day a bit of dirt doesn't hurt the car, but incorrect washing techniques do.. Priority...

Something's wrong... Any engine know-it-alls, please help?

I'm no expert either but if your randomly misfiring maybe you've got a spark arcing somewhere or a cracked sparkplug. I would also check out the ignition coil. What car is it btw as some cars have known faults with ignition coils etc?

How long should it take to format a 500Gb HD?

you'll find if you ever install a server o/s then it will demand a full format, the idea being the data being put on a server has higher value in business terms. desktop o/s will normally give you the option of quick or full format. what I said previoulsy about the format not changing 'any'...

How long should it take to format a 500Gb HD?

Agreed, afaik it doesnt change the surface data at all, it just runs a sequential read of the entire drive and marks out any bad blocks along the way. Quick formats should be fine on brand new drives and any drive unless you suspect it's got defects.

    Laptop HD's

My laptop HD is on it's way out, the laptop keeps rebooting itself randomly (think due to timeouts witing for the device to respond) & the drive makes an odd buzzing noise which changes pitch if you lift one side of the laptop. It's a Toshiba: MK4025GAS which I think is a 4200 rpm 40GB drive...

    Thieving scrotes No.2

Sorry for your bad luck m8, you should also consider the un-expected e.g. your car may have been targeted before your neighbour & you've been driving around with a rusty hook hanging out of your petrol tank. Only realising this when they called the police & inspecting your own car thereafter...

I would have thought thats unlikely. I'd imagine if that was true and common knowledge then they'd hardly sell any GB only models. But maybe I'm wrong.
