What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

I sometimes look back too and I'm amazed at how high my tolerance for pain was :P

    Manor Lords

Yes, I didn't really think that through... Well...support / encourage the development of good games then :p (on the presumption that it is indeed a good game...)

    Manor Lords

Will be keeping any eye on this thread, this looks just like my kind of game :) In fact...I'm tempted to buy it regardless just to support the developers!

What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

Because really the only beneficiaries of this current bloated landscape is the hardware manufacturers and not the end users :p

    Mac Pro 2013 & TB2 / DisplayPort 4k woes

I've only ever tried the one cable so it probably is worth trying another one :) And yeah...I know that would make a lot of sense but unlike @Zeebedy I'm still firmly entrenched in my denial at the moment :p

The Greatest GPU of all time

For myself it’s a close call between the original 3DFx Voodoo (MW2 with the glide patch…) & the 9700 Pro. I recall the 9700 Pro being the first card that actually made AA & AF feasible options; I imported mine from Canada as I was too impatient to wait for their release over here which was an...

Looking for a nice WIRED Mac mouse

I use a G502 X with one of mine but I’d recommend Mac Mouse Fix if you don’t need any of the ‘fancier’ settings (or the bloat of Logitech software…) https://macmousefix.com/

    Commodore 2000k found in attic

Sounds like this could be a question for @Demon or @Vince :)

Feek's macOS useful tools, utilities and applications thread

I’ve recently started using Charmstone as my app switcher / launcher and quite enjoying using it thus far :) https://charmstone.app/

    Mac Pro 2013 & TB2 / DisplayPort 4k woes

It’s some kind of TB2 -> DisplayPort & FileVault issue as the prompt is there, I just can’t see it! So just typing my password in logs me in…a bit annoying but it’s fine :)

Researchers find unfixable bug in apple computers

A lot of these are very interesting from a ‘computer science’ perspective and I do believe they bring value with regards to future processor design (if heeded) however they’re not at all trivial to exploit and I don’t think they are anything that your average user really needs to worry about…...

Vince's Ebay Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

@Vince Apologies if this is mentioned somewhere in the other 100 pages however for someone that's looking to get into this do you have any advice on the 'essential' kit they should have? Or is it very much dependent on the issue?

What now for VMWare? What now for virtualisation?

Maybe I’m just old fashioned but I really don’t like the idea of ‘binding’ your compute resource with your storage resource…I much prefer them being separate. No doubt they love it though

Millenia - Paradox new IP to rival Civilization

    Yup…that’s definitely a Paradox title :p

    Anyone with Gigaclear?

(Just to be crystal clear I don’t actually condone this :p)

What is the best Apple product you have owned?

My quad core 2.5GHz PowerMac G5 ‘Loud’, weighs several tons, built like a tank, power hungry and hot but oh how I love it so (yes…I use it as a daily driver running Sorbet Leopard and I’m tempted to try out MorphOS)

    Mac Mini Monitor Help

Yup, once you go 5k Mac there’s no going back :p There would definitely be an improvement in PPI though so it wouldn’t be a like for like swap, I would anticipate it to be better for her but whether it’s better ‘enough’ would be the question! Thanks to my advanced years and rapidly failing...

    Mac Mini Monitor Help

As per the comment from Irish_Tom she might have better luck with something like a PD2705U or a PD2725U due to the higher PPI of 4k@27” vs 4k@34” (as really to my understanding it’s the PPI that makes the difference when it comes to text)

What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

My main concern is whether they continue to support it long term… *coughs* Canonical *coughs*

Late, large, best 4:3 / 5:4 flat monitors

I have a ViewSonic VP191b from 2005 that to this day is still going strong :) (I’ve jinxed it now…)
