Not sure designing and 3d printing something, then taking my dock to bits and transplanting the internals can be classed as "just do X" :D Looks great, but I don't have a 3d printer, or the relevant skills I don't think :)

Long periods, sure, but it would be cool if I could throw something a bit less bulky into my laptop back, along with the switch in its case.

Fair enough, thanks for the replies - I think Nintendo themselves are missing a trick by not bringing out a "travel dock" / "travel adapter" - most places I stay have a TV with a HDMI connector these days.

Has anyone tried the Chinese switch docks that are available on the bay? I'd quite like a second dock for travelling, but the official dock is kind of bulky.

I guess its coming up when it tries to do a clean but it doesn't have the desired effect - you can get some DPF cleaning additive that may help in your case then, I think they make the exhaust gasses hotter so it helps burn off all the muck. Pre-LCI they were relatively easy to remove and...

I'm specifically talking about that gen 5 series, as that's what I have had issues with in the past.

If I remember rightly, and its been a while since I had any problems, once the light is on it won't attempt a cleaning cycle until the codes are reset, so "driving it hot", or using an additive, without clearing the codes won't do anything.

Tell them you have stuff you need to get out of the car then act stupid if they question what you're taking - acting stupid has served me well in my personal and professional life all these years, although some would say I'm not a very good actor ;)

I've never had a car written off myself but when family members have we've always had the chance to "get your things" from the car, which is generally anything that's not "standard", so push your luck as far as you can - I'd be looking to take all the additional bits off and the steering wheel...
