The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

Disclaimer: I voted Remain, and I agree with you. However, the benfits aren't necessarily split evenly across the UK. My mother & her partner (they both voted Leave) work in a warehouse with a lot of Polish workers who apparently have said that they can get a lot of benefits. I can imagine...

The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

Interesting podcast & video from MoneyWeek on how this is not necessarily a bad thing & could actually be an ideal outcome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdUBF9rNRI4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeFGKc2_LmQ

The Official OcUK EU Referendum Exit poll (and results discussion thread)

Remain. My sister voted Leave. This morning she said (while apologising): "... but I didn't think they would actually win!!" *sigh* She's been watching BBC News non-stop since she woke up. Buyer's remorse. I like the comments from this tweet...

The EU Referendum: How Will You Vote? (June Poll)

As am I, but I'll answer "leave" if any polling companies happen to start talking to me :)

The EU Referendum: How Will You Vote? (June Poll)

http://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/sn06077.pdf Page 13. EU and non-EU immigration is much the same, and the overall number increase isn't that much in terms of the overall population. If: Immigrants spoke fluent English (so they weren't as "noticeable") They didn't end up stuffed into...

The EU Referendum: How Will You Vote? (June Poll)

Gove said that the recent cable release was concerning getting Turkey into the EU. This is incorrect. The cable was about Visa-free travel, and the same list is already rather extensive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_the_United_Kingdom#Non-visa_nationals There were a few other...

    CodecPacks for Enterprise use

Deploying a "codec pack" in an enterprise environment is a pretty terrible proposition, for many reasons. IMHO, naturally. +1 for VLC

    Powershell script data into SQL

Beware SQL injection, or reserved character errors, from the previous two bits of code. Use parameterised queries if at all possible.

    Exchange 2003 logs growing fast

Google for the iOS exchange calendar item bug & the method(s) of blocking that particular iOS version. Of course it might not be that, but it's my first thought.

    UPS recommendations

APC recommends 50% max load, and with 21 HDDs the inrush current (I think it's called) could be of interest, so I'd definitely try to not go above 50%. Newer SMT/SMX series above 750va do have a fan which kicks in when running from battery or charging. Some people have mentioned a fan on all...

    UPS recommendations

In general, the older SUA series units work perfectly well. A "ups trader" on a certain auction site sells quality compatible cells - I use them for all my new batteries, and they also sell reconditioned units. However, it's generally much cheaper to wait for an auction to appear within...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

I've had my N36L + ILO card for a few years now; the ILO card does not require a license for the remote KVM ("vKVM") feature. I do not know whether or not the newer versions of the MicroServer need a license.

    server connection issues

This is a quirk of Be's network & their awkward subnetting, and I don't believe there's anything you can do about it. When they are migrated to either Sky's network, or Be's new network, you might find that connectivity then works okay as a result of being on different subnets.

Domain account keeps locking itself out.....and unlocking....

The frequency of lockouts is of less interest than the frequency of each individual bad logon attempt. Once per hour is more likely to be an app trying to auto-update. Random timeframes is probably something which the end-user is initiating, so perhaps a saved cred in an app somewhere. I...

Pre-emptive Failure UPS Swapping – How often do you do it ?

Dual UPS + transfer switch. Are these rooms generally hot/warm? Are they all the same model UPS from around the same time? When not battery failure, how does the UPS hardware itself die?

What do you use your home server for?

HP Microserver + Server 2008 R2: - Some ad-hoc scripting (primarily munging some RSS feeds) - DHCP+DNS - Mezzmo DLNA server - Storage, duh. - VM host for semi-persistent Hyper-V VMs - currently has no VMs though - Mail server It was primarily just a way of separating my desktop PC from...

    HELP! server migration

If it's going to be on a domain, and you don't want to use Powershell at all, then good luck with that. Summary: - Back up everything - See what the 2008 Server does. - Make the 2012 Server do each thing, without breaking any thing. - Turn off or disconnect the 2008 Server. - See what...

Terminal Services - worth the hassle?

TS can work very well. TS can work very badly, particularly if set up poorly. To give any further comments or suggestions, we would need significantly more info on your current setup, and what this company claims to have done to try to help. Bottlenecks can be anywhere. Sometimes it just...
