Dog set fire to in Lisburn

That is sickening, but I'm really not surprised that someone has done this and is capable of it. Livestock are abused daily by normal people, although not always this severely. Unfortunately, I'm not sure this would provoke the same reaction if it was a pig/chicken/cow in place of the dog.

    Waitrose Job Interview

I don't think there's a set right answer, just as long as it's a long the lines of "get someone else to help", either another colleague who is experienced or one of the managers. Bear in mind that my interview was more than 2 years ago now so things might have changed in regards to what they...

    Waitrose Job Interview

I worked part-time at Waitrose from 2009-2011 and have been working temporarily this summer whilst waiting for uni to start again, so any questions you may have just ask. As for the interview, mine was just a one-on-one but it was all about finding out whether or not you had the right attitude...

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

Why not let them die naturally and then bury them? In my opinion that would be the right thing to do, you may have rescued them but they are still going to die by human hands. Would you consider it a waste?

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

Instinctively due to the love you have for them, not because you were hungry.

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

I'm not going to disagree because I really have no idea. However, I don't think the point being made is pertaining to a matter of life or death. Maybe if it was was rephrased as, "If we all had to go into the abattoir and slaughter our own meat, a lot more of us would be vegetarian" I...

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

Shame that no other animal apart from a human has the ability to think rationally about the ethics and morality of what it is actually doing. The difference is, we don't kill animals instinctively.

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

Haha Ok  I apologise for not conforming to GD's stereotypical idea of being a 'man'. Which going by other threads I've read is being devoid of all emotion :p

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

I think it's getting less at whether or not you would go out and hunt/kill if it was a matter of survival, but if it was you in the abattoir slaughtering the cows/pigs etc, just so you could eat it. Oh and I'm soft because I don't think I could kill an innocent animal that has just as much...

"If we had to slaughter our own meat, we'd all be vegetarian"

This was a point made in the film Earthlings, which gives an insight into the terrible cruelty we have inflicted upon animals. What do you think? If it came to be the only way of obtaining meat, could you kill an animal? I know I certainly couldn't.

    Are you a feminist?

When have we ever stated that this is the case? when have we ever said that all men are more privileged that women? Of course that isn't the case. Yes, men do have their problems but on balance society leans towards oppression and discrimination of women. Feminisn is movement to rid society of...

    Are you a feminist?

A lot of people will disagree with you. There's a whole wealth of information available in this FAQ: http://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/ I'd urge all of you to at least read a little of it.

    Are you a feminist?

You do realise that better paternity rights are something that us feminists would fight for too? Feminism IS NOT about making women superior to men and giving them special treatment. For one thing, supporting better paternity rights would be working towards gender equality but also it would be...

    Marines and Paras differences?

I had considered joining the marines a couple of years back, I was even set on it at one point. In the end I didn't think I'd fit in very well, I just imagined everyone was a 'proper man' and I wouldn't have a big enough ego.

    Do atoms exist?

The wavefunction is a wave of probability, so the photon of light is spread over an undefined area. You can think of the wavefunction travelling through the slits, diffracting and then the resulting wavefunction will produce an intereference pattern, however this won't be visible for just one...

    Do atoms exist?

Not strictly true, it exhibits both wave and particle behaviour but this doesn't mean at one point it's a particle and then the next a wave. The motion of light is described by a wave, and its position is described by a wavefunction - which is a mathematical function which determines the...
