    Raspberry Pi as VPN

For connecting to your home network from outside home, or accessing UK content when abroad. Also useful for securing your connection when on public wifi. I configured mine for my Dad who lives abroad so he can access iPlayer etc. BTW noticed that after a reboot mine wasn't working, seems...

    Raspberry Pi as VPN

I got my Pi today for the purpose of setting up a VPN. I followed this: https://github.com/StarshipEngineer/OpenVPN-Setup The only thing I had to do at the end was this to get Internet access via the VPN: sudo /sbin/iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT sudo /sbin/iptables --table nat -A POSTROUTING -o...

    Calling all visitors to Iceland

If you are going to the south then I highly recommend getting to the crashed DC3, it's in between Skogafoss and Vik on the coast. We went there one evening and got some great aurora. Short timelapse I did It's marked on the map I posted above. It's tricky to find the section off...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Yes it will most likely be the known issue with the onboard NIC, newer versions of Windows don't play ball with it out the box until it gets the latest drivers for it. Use the latest modded BIOS, you may have to fiddle around with it, alternatively disable it within the BIOS (IIRC there are...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Nice, glad you sorted it. I remember having to mess around in the BIOS to get the AHCI mode working but even before then it was quick.

    Calling all visitors to Iceland

Ours had bluetooth and I believe a USB port but didn't try it, we just used bluetooth to play music, worked fine. It's a touchscreen sat nav, once you get used to it it worked quite well. Heated front seats were a life saver after standing out in the cold! I liked the car actually, as a...

    Calling all visitors to Iceland

We had a Dacia Duster from BlueCar last October, great little 4x4, it was two of us, both photographers and it had enough room for all our gear and luggage. You will probably get it with SatNav built in which was useful, although I got a local Simmin card for my phone, very good 3G reception all...

No the internal sata port. Do some ssd benchmarks to see if everything's optimal.

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Mine is on 8.1 and boots in under 10 seconds on an SSD (Crucial M4). I do have the latest modded BIOS and use the SSD in the ODD off the extra SATA port, but it has always been pretty quick regardless. Check event viewer etc, startup apps.

So this probably wont interest too many people but thought I'd add it for reference. I've installed an AMD R7 240 PCIE card in the server without issue, currently running Windows 8.1 on my N54L, did have ESXi for VM purposes but thought I'd see what this was like connected to the living room...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Are you going hipster on us Rojin? I do actually like the bag, doesn't scream photographer, you'd have to make sacrifices on what you take though. The all round zip is useful.

Super moon pic - anything better I could have done?

For me the point of shooting the super moons is to emphasise its extra size against something tangible, which is why you see those shots with it rising against buildings etc. You'd still need a pretty long lens for that though. Better than me though as every time there is a super moon around...

    [PIC_THREAD] Wildlife, Animals, Birds, Zoo

Haha yeah hes always got his tongue out, I like to photograph him when he's got a longer coat but he does get hot when its not clipped, also he can't see a damn thing so I end up having to get the tennis balls for him. For the price I love the Helios, nice portrait lens I think at that length.

    [PIC_THREAD] Wildlife, Animals, Birds, Zoo

Looked after my sisters dog at the weekend so I usually take the camera with me to try and get some shots of him, he's a pain to photograph having dark fur and he doesn't often sit still but I wore him out with a tennis ball so he had to take a break. I'd found a nice spot with longer grass in...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

I've never been there before but I'd imagine that a lot of the roads would be inaccessible then if you were wanting to travel around, depends what vehicle you get I guess. I've been planning this for most of the year, chose this time of year so that it's cheaper as it's out of season, more...

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Hitech 16 stop FireCrest IRND filter which I've read good reviews on, mostly the very neutral colours it gives, my Big Stopper is a bit of a pain to fix at times. Eyelead sensor gel stick which I've used with good results, although the shape of the gel means it's hard to get the spots on the...

    The 'Everything Adobe Lightroom' Thread

Personally I have no idea why anyone would want to do that, personally I leave shadows and highlights on 0 then adjust blacks and whites to get a bit more contrast. If you hold down ALT whilst moving the sliders it will show when it starts to clip (you can do this on shadows and highlights too)...
