New build advice, can build it myself.

I pushed the button earlier on today, got everything that I planned to get that was on that list but did change the cooler for this one : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/arctic-liquid-freezer-iii-argb-high-performance-cpu-water-cooler-240mm-coo-arc-01986.html It should fit in the top of the pop...

New build advice, can build it myself.

I will be using 2 monitors, when talking about productivity its nothing more than watching youtube and maybe a bit of office thats it, easily handles with a gaming cpu. I will need a case that can handle 4 drives and at least 2 m2s. I have a coolermaster case currently and it would all fit in...

New build advice, can build it myself.

I will swap the mother boards over, doesnt look like there is much difference between the 2 at all. I would prefer a full tower case for sure. I`ll easily want to get the 4 sata slots filled and can do that with the drives I already have, hence the reason I have gone for a larger M2 initially...

New build advice, can build it myself.

I dont think I`ll have any issue with flashing the BIOS from a usb so probably will opt for the 14700F. Would this build be ok for now with a 4060? how do those cards perform in games? given that I`ll be spending a bit more on this PC i could do with saving some cash elsewhere. I`ll need to...

New build advice, can build it myself.

Thanks, @pastymuncher, It was always my intention to upgrade my current system with a new CPU at some point but that never happened. What I would want to ensure is that in a couple of years time I could swap out the 4070 for whatever the latest card would be then (6070 or 7070 by then maybe)...

New build advice, can build it myself.

Thanks for your prompt reply @Tetras. I currently have a couple of 4tb drive and 1 6tb drive, I could go 4xsata without a major issue to be honest I would just have to get another larger drive into the build. Is a 650W power supply going to be enough? I currently have a 750W XFX and to fair...

New build advice, can build it myself.

As the titles says, looking to replace my extremly aging PC. Its a 2500k, 12gig of ram, lots of drives and an SSD, its almost 13 years old but to be fair the old girl is still going strong, running a 970 currently but I am aware its time for an upgrade. So, I need everything going forward as...

TP-link Deco speed drop when connected via 1gb network

Sorry but shameless bump on this thread. I have no issue with getting 240Mbps download and 30Mbps on pretty much all my devices on my S4 setup its a bit complicated but Virgin have just upgraded my connection to 1gig and it doesnt appear to have made any difference. I have 3 Deco s4 units, one...

    Council Tax Banding

The irony is that ours was £36 for a year, some people paid it some do not but I do know people that where like `lol, nope, just stick all my garden waste in the general waste now` so, yeah lets just landfill all our grass

Do you power off your PC?

I was working this out the other day, mine was left on all the time previous but now I turn it off. I dont use it in the morning so for the 24 hours it was on it was probably only being used for perhaps 6 or 7 if I was to round that up to 10 thats 14 hours a day that its not being used. It...

    Heat loss advice

Not wanting to highjack this thread but you can register on .gov website if you work from home and get a tax allowance for working from home its not a massive amount of money but you can back date it if you have been working from home since the start of the pandemic for example.

Wall Woes: a tale of sheer incompetence

Oh, that videos hurts my eyes. Firstly you are just making the problem worse by using any form of sand and cement mix, its a solid brick wall. The stuff you have been using isnt going to be doing your wall any good. The cement in the mix will like you said set really hard in fact you will...

    Energy Suppliers

I would let them know what they can expect to have to pay more than they where paying before. If you can find out their previous supplier and their new supplier and know their usage or unit rates then you might be able to work out a ball park figure for them to budget any increase for. I have...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

I do believe that some councils where actually offering to install cables under the ground as an incentive for people to have electric cars that lived in terraces street with no off street parking this is really the only way.

    Energy Suppliers

Apart from leaving my PC on (its 10 years old and doesn't like being turn on and off) I really cant see where we can shave any usage potentially apart from using the washer and dryer a bit less. All of our household lighting is now LED. There are 5 of us in this house. I suppose swapping out...

    Energy Suppliers

This is mental, I said in another thread that I am currently paying 12.6p for electric and about 2.4p for gas. Those prices if I wanted to fix now will pretty much double. I am already paying £135 a month so having to pay £260 a month is going to be a massive issue for us. I think I am due...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

I seem to remember reading an article a while ago where some dude was in the local paper because he just went in the loft and used a saw to cut all of the trusses to make a bigger room. The next time it rained the roof caved in. I just remember the picture of the dude in the paper with a...

    Standing Charge

I think I said before but I fixed at 12.6p for electric and 2.6p for gas, I am looking at the cheapest fix deal being around 20p which when I am using almost 1000k/w a month is going to cost me big time. Any idea what could be using so much power, we have a normal three bedroom house, although...
