USB peripherals can't be unplugged and replugged

A reinstallation of Windows fixed it - should have tried that long in advance really

USB peripherals can't be unplugged and replugged

I've just completed a new build (i7 6700k, MSI z170a M7, Win 10 on a drive taken from old system). Initially, the system wouldn't detect my keyboard at all, but after some fiddling around with the Windows hardware troubleshooting (I'm not entirely sure what I did) it detected my keyboard...

    DDR4 - What do

So I'm planning an upgrade to a skylake i7, motherboard not decided but I'm going to need some DDR4, probably 16gb. What offers the most bang for the buck, and would there be much practical difference between speeds? PC will be general use, some gaming, a fair amount of programming for a Comp...

    SSD for OS only?

I already have two SSDs - an M4 and a Vertex 4 (I think, can't quite check at the moment and it's been a while). Budget is... Large enough that we don't need to worry too much about the drive cost

    SSD for OS only?

I'm in the middle of an (almost) full system overhaul, and I'm looking to get an SSD just for the OS, and then put everything else on various other drives. I'm looking at upgrading to skylake, so I should be able to get M.2 and enough PCI-E slots for whichever drive I select. So, what would...

Computer thinks it's connected but isn't

Yes, I should have. Surprised it took me so long to check the firewall too

Computer thinks it's connected but isn't

Turns out it was 'stealth mode' in bitdefender's firewall - even their support suggests keeping it off, so I'm not sure why it was turned on - thanks for your help anyway

Computer thinks it's connected but isn't

So, my computer (Windows 10) is connected to my BT Hub 3 (connected to ?BT Infinity 2) via powerline ethernet, which has always worked flawlessly in the past. It also has a wireless adapter, which has always worked when I've tried it (i.e. before I got powerline). Last night, I upgraded to...

    Mass metadata editing

So on a holiday to Washington last year, I took pictures with my phone and a camera (Fujifilm S3400 I think if that's important) but the date and time on the camera was completely off. Now obviously, this messes up picture storage in chronological order. As all pictures taken on the camera...

    I'm down by 140 pounds.

A teacher of mine lost a similar amount of weight (maybe a bit less), but he's still wearing all the same clothes and they're massively too big for him :S

wait, World Of Tanks and War Thunder with Tanks ???

War thunder got a tanks mode. It's about as realistic as the planes mode (I.e. in arcade there's not much realism, but in RB you get a bit more and in simulator even more) whilst World of Tanks remains more arcade-like and more focused on gameplay than historical accuracy in some cases

    Voting for the same party

It's the old way. Labour views the conservatives as selfish, Conservatives view Labour as people who want the state to do everything. Or at least some people of each party do

General anaesthetic, closest to death you can get?

I felt my arm either being slowly weighed down or losing control of it and then out. However I then woke up (seemingly immediately, but actually after the operation) very groggy with a terrible headache that took me a while to get over.

How does religion work in schools today?

Primary school was C of E. Large emphasis on religion, hymn/other song sung every day and RE was mainly Christian but with other religions too and an assembly each week with the minister from the local church. Secondary school is technically associated with Southwark Cathedral but isn't a...
