As it says in the title.
I'm poised ready to push the button on an upgrade/new build but I'm really keen to see how the 1900x overclocks/performs and prices in a bundle?
my other option is intel 7800x or at a push 7820x but I'd prefer a 1900x if the price is good and the performance competes...
Great advise thanks, you are right whilst the price/performance difference is not a deal breaker for the 1900x vs 7820x I want to buy into a socket that will allow me to get a much faster CPU in a year or so.
taking that into account AMD looks like the sensible route as you said the top end...
Will be doing a new build shortly,
Usage will be 50/50 gaming/video encoding so I was fairly set on one of the 7820x overclock bundles @4.4 but the news of the threadripper x1900 is making me reconsider.
Ultimately I'd like more cores but the cost of a completely new build is restricting my...
After a little advice, tried searching but seem to find lots of old posts from 2008-2013 that aren't relevant anymore.
I have bt infinity 2 (78mb cap) and a homehub5 .. recently been experiencing both wired and wireless dropouts with the homehub that a reset seems to fix ... my line speed has...
I bought the OCUK 480GTX, ended up receiving a Sparkle card as opposed to a OCUK branded.
so far very happy, card has clocked very nicely and has good temps
there is an 'assault beachhead' benchmark for crysis which replays graphically intense gameplay.
I'm on my travels at the moment but I will bench this on Friday when I'm home to see how 8xAA in 1920 very high stands up in gameplay bench as opposed to fly through. I have run the demo mod and...
If you can build a box that can play Crysis at full wack on a single GPU now it's a fairly sure fire way of future proofing.
In theory the box will handle a few years of releases at full wack & then when the GPU starts to struggle you can either except lower settings or throw in another GPU...
480GTX can average above 30FPS but at it's lowest point drops to 23-25FPS ... for the most part it's playable as it runs 90% of the time at aboe 30FPS .. it only drops off lower during very demanding sequences.
480GTX OC
air cooled box, stock reference board
Voltage 1125
Core 850Mhz...
Personally for me I vote 480 GTX .. I had a 5770 for 6 months and had nothing but problems, system hangs etc
finally said enough is enough and got a 480GTX ... I have been very happy with it since, not a single glitch, I have most recent games .. no problems with adobe products as I had...
Indeed I am toms hardware benchmarks show the 5870 at 32FPS in very high with 4xAA, stock 480GTX at 31FPS same settings so to get 33FPS with 8xAA enabled is pretty good I feel. I will have to re run my own benches with 4xAA instead of 8XAA
The only problem is I can feel another 480GTX...
hehe kinda answered in the other post .. did have it at 900 but temps where hitting mid 90's in the hot weather so I pulled it back to 850Mhz ... temps now max out at mid 80's during gaming .. I can hit high 80's in kombuster but that is an extreme test ... need to update my signiture :P
the...
yea sure, no worries. Im away on business at the moment but I will run the benchmarks tonight/tomorrow and post them ... I'll also post the temps and full overclock details as well
yes granted the 5970 is a faster card but it was a streatch too far £500+ vs the 480GTX OCUK at £380ish.
Also This post was more about finding games/tec demos to showcase graphics than cards ...
Infact if to be accurate BFBC2 or Crysis will look exactly the same on a 480GTX max settings as...
aaahhh good stuff I knew there was a good reason Nvidia card :D
temps are mid 80's after an hour long gaming session ... That is with the voltaged tweaked and core at 850Mhz .. I did have it higher but it was running a bit warm so pulled it back a bit.
I have a custom fan profile that...
thanks for all the replys ... I sucessfully wow'ed the PC critiques with a crysis warhead display with natural mod cranked up .. the 480GTX lapped it up
Also for those interested there are some tec demos on the nvidia site including the heaven tec demo ... looked very impressive ..
also I...
