    1700BHP per Tonne 1000BHP K20 Turbo Atom

In terms of outright top speed given an infinitely long runway? F1 cars are obviously limited by the length of the straights on tracks - at Monza they are hitting 220mph but I think Bottas holds the outright speed record for an F1 race at about 230mph. The Veyron was faster than that and that's...

    1700BHP per Tonne 1000BHP K20 Turbo Atom

A fast car for sure, but F1 fast? I think from an armchair perspective most people have this vague notional idea that an F1 car is just little bit faster than what they imagine a properly fast road car to be but they aren't, they are on another planet. I am fortunate to have driven a proper...

    Show Us Your Motors!

I don't mind the fruityness of the odd crackle if it is organic (like it is in the SVR) but when you can set your watch by each individual pop, its a bit naff IMO. I am definitely interested to see if you can soften it enough to not drive you nuts if you intend to daily it! :D

    Show Us Your Motors!

I had a lengthy test drive of the A110S recently and I was impressed by most of it, all except the engine note and absolutely contrived pops and bangs from the exhaust. Exactly 3 pops every single time you lift off in the sportier modes, which I found to be tacky beyond belief. The firmness of...

Buying 2nd hand car from companies it Cazoo, Carshop and etc

Almost, but not quite. You will be entitled to Section 75 protection if the purchase price is more than £100 (ie a £100 item is not covered) and less than £30,000.01 and you've paid any amount of that on a credit card, even a single penny. There are some more rules that you need to follow but...

Using a Webasto/Eberspracher/Chinese Diesel Heater to heat spaces cheaply...

Yep, that's exactly it, although you'll need to get the exact transmitted code for your remote and past that into the code: lines instead of mine :) The tx'd code from your remote will show up in your logs as soon as you have the correctly configured remote_receiver: block in and working. Press...

    Massive Car insurance costs?

Welp! My M2 Comp renewal came in at £1366, up from £206 last year. Called them up and negotiated the price down by a smidgen over £600. Shopping around and this is by far the cheapest quote so even though I'd like to leave it isn't worth the extra cost, even though my premium has roughly tripled!

That looks really neatly installed and has given me a few ideas so thanks :) I particularly like the way you've done that ducting, I'll be looking to emulate that once I've fitted the roof insulation in the next couple of weeks.

Apologies for the lack of exhaust pics, I'll get them at some point! The fan is 'fanlike' in that it isn't quiet by any stretch of the imagination but not really louder than your average cheap fan heater. Certainly quieter than a portable AC unit. You wouldn't want it on in your living room...

Not all of them can be tinkered with in terms of fuelling. Mine has the "latest" control ECU and cannot be adjusted at all save for being able to put it into plateau (Alpine/high altitude) mode. I've done the sums by measuring the tick rate of the pump and so on and it is in line with what the...

Using a Webasto/Eberspracher/Chinese Diesel Heater to heat spaces cheaply...

I'll grab some pictures of the outside bit tomorrow in daylight - honestly though it really isn't very good at the moment. The silencer is not big at all, same rough volume as a regular bag of crisps ish. I plan to tidy it up significantly - for a start it is unacceptably dangerous to have a...

Yes, some specific models have been 'banned' (eg the Vevor-branded models) because people are stupid. In my opinion, this is like running a portable suitcase generator. Nobody is banning those because people are killing themselves running them inside buildings... Editing to add that I have a...

As promised, some images... The heater unit sits in the bottom of this frame, the tank would sit directly above it. I plan to make a new enclosure for this, as well as weld up some better brackets. Not for strength, just for looks really. I have the metal to do this but not a welder at the...

Thought this might be of interest, so posting it up. I'd be interested to see if anyone else here is doing the same! :) Background: I've been on a mission to keep my (detached) garage dehumidified and heated during the winter months. Partially to protect the things I keep in there from...

    The Not NC500 Scotland Trip

I've done a lot of (very) fast road drives in groups with this sort of thing going on. I'd rather be on my own, frankly. People make mistakes, bad calls, badly timed calls etc. Unless you're absolutely willing to trust your and some potential random 3rd party's life to that radio call, you...

    The Not NC500 Scotland Trip

I suppose it depends on what you're in and if you get lucky with the timing of oncoming traffic but I have never really had too much of an issue with overtaking things up there. Multi-car overtakes are very often completely 'on' with a bit of forward visibility and good planning.

Amazing colour combo! I can't believe how good VFM these have become, brutal depreciation for the original owner but now an insane amount of performance for the money.

    The Not NC500 Scotland Trip

Yes, that's a good route. If you do want to break it up, I really do recommend Pitlochry as a place to stop - there's several nice hotels in the area and is about the right sort of distance for whatever you might reasonably want to do the next day. IMO, Skye is more or less a must-see sort of...

    The Not NC500 Scotland Trip

It'd be a real shame to get all the way to Kyle of Lochalsh and not cross the bridge to Skye and carry on enjoying the A87 all the way to Portree (or beyond!). My route took us from a starting point at Loch Lomond up via Glen Etive, Glencoe and a mrs-friendly detour to the Glenfinnian Viaduct...
