    Replacement CPU/Mobo

Astonishingly, I decided to try the power button bios reset one more time (power off - power on holding button til it cycles off again - power on). I've done this ~15 times to no avail (in amongst various other things). 16th time exactly the same? Booted into BIOS recovery. Recovered the Main...

    Replacement CPU/Mobo

The telltale thing I believe from other forum posts is the blue backdrop "Gigabyte UEFI dualBIOS" screen with no other text - it seems to appear in all the threads on these BIOS issues. That said, I don't have a way to test the CPU separately. https://images.app.goo.gl/nKLTcvwGB993LmTd8

I've tried the power cycle thing to prompt backup write with no joy. Will try the freedos option now. Edit: FreeDOS didn't work either the loop never reaches the point of looking for a boot device :(

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm surprised to learn a bundled cooler with a CPU gives decent performance - that's certainly a win. I'll almost certainly take your advice and get this combination - benchmarks on the 3600X seem to suggest it's worth it over the 3600 so I'll see if I can squeak the...

    Replacement CPU/Mobo

Tried to flash the new BIOS - the UEFI/BIOS interaction buttons (del, F8, F12, End for Q-Flash) don't work, tried with the USB for the keyboard in all the rear panel USB slots. I've tried Win 10 and Ubuntu bootable USBs (no joy, no apparent interaction at all and without access to the BIOS...

    Replacement CPU/Mobo

Hello, My Gigabyte mobo has recently died, It's a dual bios model and both BIOSes are corrupt and it can't POST or enter bios. Have tried every fix I can find but no joy including shorting the main BIOS to try and force backup, so think it's time to replace. It's a GA-Z77-DH3, currently...

Check you're using the closest server (not accidentally set to USA or something). Also try going into options and checking/unchecking "Lockstep" and see if that helps. I find it's best for me with Lockstep enabled.

Ah, fair enough, that makes more sense. What leaguestones do you find the best so far?

    Path of Exile(diablo clone)

Dear god, how much do you play that "no exalt drops" is a rubbish time in a league? I've been having a good time, but play SSF so tradeable drops aren't that big of a deal - I'm usually more interested in a build-around that could be part of a new character.

The other starter tip I tend to give is this: Don't get too attached to a character - PoE is a game where you end up playing dozens of characters for different reasons - if one gets 'stuck' and can't progress, it doesn't mean you've failed, it just means you've got a golden opportunity to try...

Oh my word - playing the "pizza sticks" style spell totem build. Ran it with firestorm until I got some decent cast speed then swapped to Flameblast. I'm playing softcore solo self-found in the Legacy league. In legacy, loot is absurdly plentiful. I'm draped in (un-usable by my build)...

    Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade

Had a quick blast. Not for me. The 40k-ness that would be a draw is hindered by some horrible textures, even on max graphics. The eldar are cartoonishly block coloured, in particular. I'm sure there's a good game in there, but with so much else in my library I don't think I've got the time to...

    Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade

So this appears to have gone FTP and is now out on general release on steam - anyone stuck by it enough to know if it's worth a punt? I'm planning to give it a go tomorrow, but I figure someone might already have tips.

    Path of Exile(diablo clone)

I was thinking someone coming from Diablo would be more likely to enjoy the hardcore aspect but you're right - it's not for everyone. The short leagues are indeed an excellent place to start - nobody has more than a few weeks of gear built up, so you don't have the issue of super-hoarders...

    Path of Exile(diablo clone)

There are loads, but I think one of the best ones is "your first character will probably fail" - whilst that sounds negative, what I mean is that you will play dozens of characters over the course of enjoying this game, so don't sweat trying to make a 'perfect' one first time. Also, play hardcore.

What game did you play last?

Boss monster - 2 player, first try of it. Fun! I think it would be better with 4, as the managing who gets which hero would be more strategic and less random. Patchwork - currently tied for 'best 2p game' in our house. Pocket Mr Jack - the other contender :D Love Letter ('the hobbit' edition)...

Never played any Final Fantasy games - where to start?

If you want a JRPG with avoidable battles, try Ni-No Kuni, wrath of the white witch. You can always see the roaming enemies and walk around them.
