Just built a new rig, as part of it i have a 1tb storage drive.(Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB) things were working nicely... for about 12 hours. now the HD makes a high pitch whine and then a series of loud slow ticks (about 1 a second) then it boots up into bois, where the HD doesn't show...

:( its all brand new so clean as can be, and not damaged slots or ram. its not the ram as each one works on its own, just not with each other! and its all the same stuff too. it has to be either the other 2 slots (which is unlikely) or it some thing to do with the dual channel side of...

arghh !! ok all sticks work in slots one(blue( or slot 2(white) when only one stick is used. BUt when i add another to the corresponding colour slot i.e 2 blue or 2 white it shows error 49. whats going on? is it some sort of dual channel issue?

ah result. with one stick in it works, and loads bios. will try and see which stick(s) are the offenders. brb

i7 2600k vengeance 8gb (2x 4gb) X2 so 4 stick total (ive tried just 2 and in each colour slot, but no dif) msi gtx 580 twin frozr crucial m4 128 ssd am i making a silly setup error i havent spotted? would be a start if i could find what exactly code 49 means lol

just build a new rig with this mobo and im not getting any display out put. the error code display (dr Debug codes) shows 49, helpfully the manual doesn't have this code in it and i cant seem to fin it online either. anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for all the input. Thinking maybe 2600k and gtx 570 would probably be good enough. hadn't thought of the retail version CPU for the warranty so will def look at that, cheers. anyone else got any good alternatives to the ssd? or is that corsair deal as good as it looks? thanks
