You need to have unlocked the bootloader before you can do that unfortunately.

My N5 did it after updating to M and my N6 does it too. Not every time, but I do see it without WiFi when picking it up sometimes. Doesn't seem to be hurting my data use, so no idea how long it's actually off for. Might be a Doze thing.

Just the same as me then, so I missed any differences between 5 and 5.1 I've left it encrypted though, seems smooth enough as is to me.

When did you first get it though? There were some improvements to FDE in 5.1 that made quite a difference to benchmarks.
