Driving down closed road - endorsable?

Apologies I don't get on here much to reply. Where the road closure is leads on to a roundabout. Plod stopped him as they were coming round the roundabout when he's obviously gone through the road that is closed. Given a green ticket and told to expect a £60 fine & 3 points in the post within...

Driving down closed road - endorsable?

It is extremely annoying. Luckily however the detour isn't THAT bad outside of peak hours so I'll know myself not to risk it. Made worse by the fact they could've just put temp lights up as it's only 1 side of the road they are doing any work on.

    Shocks upgrade polo 6r

Hi all. So got myself a new daily polo 6r 1.2 TDI, and picked up a new old stock set of Vogtland 30/50mm springs for it. While I'm there I'll probably replace the shocks as I suspect the ones on the car are the original 10 year old components. What are people's recommendations? Been advised...

    Remapping. Risky? Your thoughts?

No, because they are nothing but an expensive headache when they go wrong. Taste the fumes??? What do you think happened to pre 08 non DPF diesel's? Or did you overtake everyone?

    Remapping. Risky? Your thoughts?

Got my polo 1.2 TDI remapped and it is noticeably more responsive and overall drives better. I was in a forced position however as I needed to delete the DPF and EGR as both were faulty, and a remap, a large drill & gutting of the dpf and an EGR blanking plate later and it's running perfectly...

Car insurance - 2 cars but selling 1

No it's 12, in their terms it states they act as 2 seperate policies. Ive logged in and checked and it starts on 20/08 (date I chose as was the cheapest date) and ends on 20/08/2024. Thankfully it worked and I've saved myself about £300!

Cars be * expensive vs 10 years ago

There are definitely still bargains out there. I've just picked up a 2012 VW polo 1.2 TDi with FSH 110k miles. No MOT and had a running issue (turned out to be a blocked EGR valve) rather than replacing, £4 egr blanking plate and an EGR delete & DPF delete remap (£130) and she's running great. I...

    genuine 60mpg cars?

Not particularly, the thing that sways me towards cheap and cheerful cars such as a Celerio or an Alto is cheap maintenance. very little to go wrong. (e.g. a clutch for an alto is around £40, compare that to my old 1.9 CDTI astra that was around £600 for clutch & DMF at the time)

    genuine 60mpg cars?

Are there any genuine 60mpg cheap used petrol cars out there? Currently use an old 1.4 TDi Arosa which is returning 50mpg - surprisingly good for a 23 year old diesel. Was thinking of getting something a bit newer and comfier - Its an A/B road blaster, averaging around 16k miles/year. Use it for...

Arnold Clark paint protection & 2 year warranty... worth it?

Buying my next car through them, solely on the basis of them offering me a ridiculous amount for PX on my old car (over £1k more than anywhere, condition considered) and going for a Focus ST Line X for a little under 19k (I could probably find similar age/miles for a touch less, however the APR...

    Leasing vs finance

I'm baffled to be honest, my credit score has dramatically improved (clearscore 830/1000) over the last 18 months. Very little debt (£300 CC thats it) homeowner, married with a healthy earnings/expenses ratio. However, I tried moneysavingexpert/moneysupermarket and clearscore and the only decent...

    Leasing vs finance

Wife is after a new(ish) nissan micra. Test drove one at a stealers and loved it. Thought I could get a bank loan as had a 80% approval rating but was declined. Finance works out pretty expensive (13k for a 2020 Ntec sport but with finance works out at 18k over 4 years) Considering a 2 year...

Emergency TV replacement - what to get, 30-40 inches?

Yeah definitely get the biggest semi decent panel you can reasonably afford. You won't regret it. Either a 48inch A series LG OLED or a 50-55-65 inch 4k LED. Sub 350 get a hisense 50, Top end of your budget definitely get the a1 oled.

    Do you need a soundbar?

My living room won't be massive to be honest, space is a tad limited so definitely won't have room for a sub too. I just read some reviews that suggested for the money the yamaha mentioned in OP was a great improvement. I dont want to get a cheap and nasty but likewise having just dropped 1280...
