    Time to retire the 1080ti

Regarding the CPU temps, as others have said that's perfectly normal. However, many 5800X3D's will happily undervolt to -30 on all cores using curve optimiser. Doing so on mine took in-game temps down from 75°c to 65°c, with slightly lower power usage and noise from my AIO as a result. Here's...

    Full upgrade or just CPU?

I can't imagine the CPU alone is responsible for the stuttering, nor DDR4 as according to reviews that pairing is on par with/slightly faster than a 5800X and I had no such issues when I had combo, and my brother currently doesn't. Perhaps it's the motherboard? Trying it out on a monitor with a...

Budget Hybrid Bike - Opinions please

Ended up getting a second hand Specialized Crosstail Sport; having the option of front suspension seems a decent compromise. Now to learn to ride properly again! At low speed I wobbled a lot at first on the initial ride, but that's improving. Relaxing my grip was important too, at first my arms...

    AMD GPU Scaling

1080p without upscaling at 4K should look just the same as it would on a screen of that res would at that size as I believe it will just use 4 pixels on the screen for each one rendered, as far as I'm aware at least. My brother uses a 6800 on his 4K TV in this way and has no complaints (it has...

What do gamers actually think about Ray-Tracing?

I was quite enjoying time outside with the kids, but then I passed a couple of puddles and my framerate tanked. I tried FSR but the artifacts on the nearby fencing were impossible to ignore. Ruined my day, might be time to go Nvidia.

What do gamers actually think about Ray-Tracing?

Jeez, have you guys seen the weather outside? Might be time to step away from the keyboard....

Budget Hybrid Bike - Opinions please

That has crossed my mind, they mainly ride on paved areas (off the main road) but do also go on paths and trails such as that next to the canal. It's generally very smooth, but you raise a fair point as if we take the bikes when I visit my parents the kids will want to ride and the terrain is...

Budget Hybrid Bike - Opinions please

Thanks, it's well reviewed on the whole. I wonder if there's any benefit to getting the Giant that's worth the slight premium?

Budget Hybrid Bike - Opinions please

Hi all, I'd appreciate some advise on getting a cheap hybrid bike. I'm not looking to spend much as it'll mainly be to accompany my kids (6 and 9) on rides (they're far too fast to keep up with on foot any longer), with occasional rides to work (1 day a week if that, only about 2 miles away)...

    Helldivers 2

The review bombing is testament to what a bad move this is. As the devs have been at pains to point out it's down to Sony and not them, and apparently it wasn't a requirement initially due to potential issues it could have caused at launch. Still, it won't stop me playing. I love the game. The...

    Helldivers 2

There have been some bugs where orbitals are nuts, but that does sound shifty. I'm annoyed by the PSN account linkage, just unnecessary and poorly thought out if players have put based it in regions where it's not available. Will use my old account anyway, just irritating that I'll have to.

KitGuru Reader Survey **WIN** Acer Gaming Laptop

My sister-in-law also won a case a few years back so definitely something they'll honour.

    1440p for around £450

It's a tough choice for sure. The 7800 XT will likely age a little better with more VRAM and higher overall performance, but even if RT performance won't be amazing if you couple it with DLSS you can still get a good experience with the 4070.

World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

This burn in is why I'm still hesitant to get an OLED monitor. I don't WFH that often (every Friday then additional days during school holidays and when other matters require it)so I'm probably being overly finicky, but I just know I'll worry about it too much. OTTH after gaming on my S95B...

    Helldivers 2

Yeah, though I can understand and sympathise with the frustration for those who encounter repeated issues. Perhaps my friends and I have been fortunate but game breaking problems have been rare considering how much time we've put in, and the fun has far outweighed the occasional gnashing of...

Could a CPU still bottleneck an RTX 4080 at 4K?

Just to add, my comments were more general, as you rightly say the game isn't finished yet so in this case it could simply be lack of optimisation at this stage. But the X3D would provide a decent bump even at 4K, and be a better match for your card.

Could a CPU still bottleneck an RTX 4080 at 4K?

As JediFragger says a 5800X3D will do a great job for a lot less money (or the 5700X3D, which is within a few percentage points for a decent chunk less outlay). The 7800X3D can be around 20% faster than the 5800X3D, but that's at 1080p, so at 4K the margin will be small.

Could a CPU still bottleneck an RTX 4080 at 4K?

This article was made for you! https://www.techspot.com/review/2825-older-ryzen-cpu-fast-modern-gpu/#Benchmarks They show that even at 4k, in the games they tested the 7800X3D was 20% faster in average frame rates, and 25% in minimums. So while the 5600 can still provide a very solid...

What back GPU/s do you have ?

This is why I'm very glad AMD now have an iGPU on their CPUs, as I tend to sell my old cars to offset the cost of a new one. I may fudge the figures a little to keep my wife in the dark over my outlay, of course...
