I'd go for raid 6 if write performance isnt a huge issue (which it sounds like it's not). It's considered unwise to run raid 5 with anything over 1 TB, rebuild times can leave you very vulnerable to a second drive failure...

Another vote for EMC from me. I have CX3, CX4 and now VNX SANS. The VNX is a lovely bit of kit and simplicity itself to manage. I cant understand how you could complain about support. I have found EMC support to be awesome to the point of being woken up by them in the middle of the night...
