@Vince Quick question! Could I ask how you apply that mask? Looking at the brand it doesn't supply any plunger or applicator? The areas I'll likely need to apply it to are tiny and as I understand it you should only be applying thin coats too.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
@Vince Great, thanks for that. I'll add them to my seemingly never-ending list of things to get! I'll add a little solder in the meantime just so I can get this socket in place and see if it works. :)
Not sure where to ask this so I thought I'd try here first! :) This is one for any electronics minded people.
I'm repairing an old Amiga 500 and I've had to scrape away some of the solder mask along a trace to ensure there is a good connection. There is so I can now solder a replacement socket...
I know it's been like that for years, but I really would have thought it wasn't now. The amount of custom a company who provides that kind of service, would eventually completely outweigh the initial cost. The amount of new people who would be tempted to get keys alone would pay for it, I would...
I was going to start a thread but this thread seems the perfect place!
I have a Keychron K2 and I'd love to be able to get some good quality custom coloured keys for it. I'd only really want a few select ones and I've always thought I'd just be able to say, find a company which lets you specify...
Managed to sort this. I think my setup has a issue with a windows 10 update 1803 whereby the recovery drive isn't being hidden by windows and is being assigned a drive letter. I've sorted it by using Diskpart. Here's a thread which details it...
Thanks for the reply @Snapshot That's interesting. Why didn't I have this issue when I did this type of cloning the last time on a windows 7 system a few years back? It is super annoying having a d: drive showing up in file manager. I feel like disk management used to allow me to change the...
@Undesirable Thanks for that. I did the clone via windows as you suggested and it's worked perfectly. :)
One thing though, I've now got an additional 500mb D: drive showing up in windows called Recovery? I think this is created by Macrium in case of some incident? I presume I should be able to...
I'm going to move my current 120gb system drive over to a roomier 500gb one. I've created a Macrium Bootable Rescue USB and boot into it. However, when I choose to clone the system drive I can't select the connected (it's in a caddy) 500gb USB one? I only get the option to select the tiny 4gb...
I need to copy over some new music files to a raspberry pi which I have connected to my PC via wifi. The new files are in a big music folder along with lots of old ones. I thought I'd be able to do it via windows by selecting all the files and pasting them into the pi folder containing just the...
@andy_mk3 Thanks for the reply. I'm coming round to that idea too. I've done a factory reset and because I can't connect to it via Ethernet, I can't logon to it now!
Would you have any suggestions for a decent replacement?
After a short break I've returned home to find my connection down. :( I've quite a simple setup with an ASUS dsl-n55u and an account with Co-op broadband.
The issue is that the internet connection will not work now for some reason? I've reentered my provider details, it says please waiting...
After a catastrophic feature update last year, where I had to do a complete reinstall (due to a blue screen bug) I vowed to never update win10 unless I was ready to do so. So I had everything turned off under advanced options but of course it's still downloaded a 'feature' update which it is now...
I got a Keychron keyboard recently and am very happy with it. However, over the years I've always wanted to colour code certain important keys. Each time I've looked into it it's been an exercise in frustration. Any keycaps I find are horrible pastel colours, seem to be only available in big...
Thanks for the reply. I've checked with the keyboard manufacturer and now luck unfortunately. I have how managed to map the keys I need via autohotkey. It's it's a reasonable fix. :)
I've started using a keyboard with no numeric pad to cut down on space. Unfortunately a program I use has a function which is locked to the number pads + and - keys. I thought there would be some kind of way to access these key presses in the form of a key combination or shortcut but I can't...
I feel like old sff pcs will always be well sought after. I've a couple of Shuttle G2 cases which I need to get around to modding to bring up to spec. It's for this reason which I think they'll hold value. I'm surprised there's not more people modding them really, would make a good YouTube...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I took it for granted that the Atom was 32 bit but I found this which says otherwise. Amazing really.
Anyway, I'll leave it on 64 bit. It does run surprisingly well for a 10 year old netbook.
