So, this has been my worst upgrade experience ever... GPU died in 3 days (with hardly any game time in those 3 days). PSU may or may not be faulty so is going back with the GPU (both bought away from OCUK).
Now still having issues that seem to be related to the motherboard (based on other...
Well that was short lived... The 4080 Super died an hour ago, raised an RMA for a replacement and back to using the 3080 for now :(.
Edit: Just under 5 hours later, PC black screen'd. I suspect the PSU is faulty and killed the 4080 Super, then just tried to also kill my 3080. Now back on my old...
New parts now in my PC. I also took the opportunity to raise my desk (been putting that off way too long).
Still need to deal with cable managing the desk, will deal with that next weekend.
Very happy with the upgrades, thanks again for the input :).
Edit: Only negative about the upgrades...
But that is still £1849-2000 to replace the 4080 super in the rest of the spec list, not £2000 total (only slightly higher than my original spec list above though).
I don't use the VMs enough to warrant switching back to Intel and dealing with the extra power consumption. I should probably...
I've coped using the 5800X for my VMs so far, it is infrequent enough that it should still be OK after upgrading. I'll check some reviews on the MSI vs Zotac options this weekend.
I had considered 4090, but ignoring the fact I'd like to go for a white option pushes the minimum spend up by...
So, I've spent a bit more time looking into the differences between my options and your suggestions:
It sounds like the 7950X3D may just cause me headaches for gaming at times, so the 7800X3D makes more sense.
With the differences between the X670E-A and the B650-A, it definitely seems like I'd...
I did consider a holiday, but my wife left me a few months back and I don't feel like going anywhere alone at the moment. Part of it is "spending for the sake of spending", but also my PC does seem to struggle with some games running at 4k and I feel like treating myself out of the "hard earned...
Thanks for the suggestions, will look over them properly in the morning.
I use my PC for gaming and coding (mainly C#), as well as occasional VM use. Beyond that it is just general PC use at the moment.
Hi all, it has been a few years since I upgraded my PC last (December 2020 for GPU, February 2021 for CPU) and I'm getting a backdated pay rise + bonus from work next week. Not sure on the exact amount yet, but will find out on Monday.
I've been getting the urge to upgrade recently and I'm...
Got a dispatch email for my 3x single 120mm whites today, arriving tomorrow. Wasn't expecting that for another couple of weeks at least. Hopefully not too much longer for the 3x blacks so I can complete my build :).
Looking at this has me thinking "why did I put my Galahad the other way round?". Might have to turn it around when the rest of my fans turn up as it looks much cleaner the way you have it.
No problem lol. I'm waiting for 3 black and 3 white at the moment.
Considered ordering 1 more... Never mind considered, just convinced myself while typing this message to order that lone black 120 from B Grade for the final fan spot in my case lol.
Almost went for it but I'd still be waiting for 2 more black 120s based on current stock there. Will leave them for someone else and just be patient :).
Thanks for the update. Any idea if you'll be able to get enough stock for all the current orders? Using a mixture of fans at the moment: 3 black 120 UNIs, 3 Lian Li ST120s (from the Galahad) and 3 old Corsair SP120s that were sat in the attic (while waiting).
Looks like the spec for the non-"high speed" 240 option incorrectly includes the Alpenfohn Wing Boost 3 120mm Addressable RGB High Speed PWM Fan when the fan speeds show it should be these: Alpenfohn Wing Boost 3 120mm Addressable RGB Fan
Thanks for the updates, I had been advised in Order Queries that my orders (OC4211649 and OC4213015) should be covered by the incoming stock but it sounds like that will not be the case. Any chance you could verify?
