    Help me buy an MX5

I suppose this is what kills MX5 ownership then, I had a lot of rot on my Triumph Spitfire, I had to get rid, regret it now!

    Help me buy an MX5

Woah! Never seen one get that bad!! For those sorts of problems, is the chassis rail repairable or replaceable?

I'm not brave enough but is anyone willing to?

I clip my own hair, 3 or 5 all over as I am balding. It gets easier with practice, just make sure the clippers are fully charged!!!

    Road Tripping in the USA!

After my US road trip, I was grinning like a fool driving the V8 Camara that we had hired, what a great touring beast. It had unlimited mileage and was fully insured through Sixt I believe. I think we covered 1,500-2500 miles in under 2 weeks. I want to do a US deep south music tour next...

Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I'm not a Porsche owner, but would consider these: 1). Given the car is worth £27k+ and parts/repairs can be quite expensive, get the warranty for a few more years of worry-free motoring and perhaps sell on a bit later. 2). Use the value of your vehicle in a part exchange for a new car, thus...

What have you done to your car today?

I replaced an LED in my instrument panel, yesterday temporarily as it's really dim, waiting for a set of wedge SMD LEDs to arrive, and last week, I replaced both the rear handbrake cables and did a full coolant flush/replacement. I might adjust down my handbrake in a couple of weeks once the...

    Help me buy an MX5

Can't fault any of the Bilt Hamber stuff. I use Hydrate 80 to convert/treat the rust: https://www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-protection-and-rust-treatments/hydrate-80 You can use Dynax S50 to fill sill cavities, and other box cavities on your chassis...

    What is this? (Shocking content!)

I had to do the top mounts on my front suspension legs on my SW20, absolute pain, when I asked a garage to compress the spring for me they couldn't (there aren't enough coils) so I took it to a friends house and we eventually compressed the springs and I was able to change them. It looks like...

    Help me buy an MX5

I was quite curious about these, I think the engine rebuilds are £10,000 if the IMS bearing fails. Bodywork looks clean, if you can get the underside treated and then coated in Bilt Hamber Underbody or similar, it should last a fair while longer. I don't think MX5s were ever undersealed in the...

    Red Dead Redemption 2

Interesting mention of Witcher here!! I played through and completed all the Witcher games, and started playing Red Dead Online and Single Player modes quite recently. I need to play more single player though, the online mode has taken more of my spare time.

What game did you play last?

Going back a few years now, and pre-lockdown, as some of my friends have got young families now, but we were playing Catan, Dark Heresy, and Only War. I still have my character sheets somewhere for the Warhammer games.

    Tabletop Warhammer?

Currently waiting for the Wraithbone primer spray to come back in stock, a few of my friends and I got into Age of Sigmar, a few months ago, bored and curious during lockdown I suppose! When all my paints arrive though, I'll be using contrast paints as opposed to traditional painting to get all...

    Modern games on a CRT...

I remember how much the circa 1996-1998 Packard Bell monitor flickered on the families old Pentium 120. I swear it contributed to my bad eyesight! Maybe it was a badly manufactured one or something, I didn't notice it as much on later CRT monitors. Did anyone else experience that flickering...

    Best 27" ips gaming monitor?

Currently using an M27Q, 27" 170hz 1440p. It really is a joy to look at, especially after using a non-HD previously, though I've noticed that if you disable freesync on it, you're locked to 120hz on Windows and games, so I keep it on and set my Nvidia control panel to adaptive vsync and it seems...

How are people getting GPU's ?

I'm waiting with baited breath for any new announcements for video cards from Gibbo. I missed the last one unfortunately, for the 6700XT which would have been a good upgrade from my 1660. Changing to a Gigabyte M27Q monitor and running at native 1440p hasn't helped and apart from a few games...

Anyone else tempted to cash in on the crazy prices?

I have seen my 1660 GTX go for something like £100+ more than I paid for on a popular auction web site, but I would be a bit stuffed if I sold it, as I don't have onboard graphics on this rig and I do enjoy my video games!

So did anyone actually get a 3060?

On the back of my post about the benefits and drawbacks of upgrading to a 3060 from my 1660, (same 192 memory bus bits, more render shaders, cores etc, double the VRAM newer GA106 GPU etc.) I didn't actually get the 3060; 'twas a combination of stock lacking and silly prices. It just didn't...

    Is the 12gb 3060 a worthwhile upgrade over the 6gb 1660?

Thanks for all your replies! Surprisingly, I was not able to find one to purchase, and with list prices of £349-£449+ I was quite put off after watching a few reviews!! So for now, I will take some time to save up for a 1440p monitor (which I might be able to use at lower settings on my 1660)...

    Is the 12gb 3060 a worthwhile upgrade over the 6gb 1660?

I have just realised that I will be working late on launch day, so it will be a stroke of luck if I do find one. I am not prepared to spend more than £400 on the thing, I may as well wait for a 3060 ti or 3070 and save more.
