Just wanted to follow up in case it helps anyone else with similar symptoms: it was damage to the MOBO socket and required a replacement board. Had to take it to local PC repair shop. All sorted now

Hello,
Hoping someone can help.
This build has been running fine since November and booted up first time when I put it all...
I was in the queue (21) for a Palit Gamerock 3070 and got my GF to order a Palit Gaming Pro (49). Just cancelled both as managed to order one of the latter from another UK retailer yesterday, and it arrived today.
So if you're waiting for either of those cards, there's one less person in the queue!
I was 13:49.
Easy to do in the F5 scramble but wish I'd read Gibbo's post properly. The GameRock edition's a bit of a garish design for my tastes anyway, would have preferred the vanilla!
Anyone else order the Palit GeForce RTX 3070 GameRock edition in haste? Any sign of dispatch if so?
Trying to figure out if I'm in for a lengthy wait, as tempted to cancel and wait for AMD reviews if that's the case.
Thanks bagel - blower does look to be the way to go for the SG13.
Ok understood on the sound card. That mobo seems to have good reviews too so will go with that. Looking at the Silverstone website, they're recommending some parts to go with the case, so think I may as well try and go with the...
Thanks - good spot!
I think I'm leaning more towards the SG13.
So I could trade out that CPU cooler for Alpenföhn the Black Ridge CPU cooler https://www.overclockers.co.uk/alpenfohn-black-ridge-low-profile-cpu-cooler-120mm-hs-05g-al.html
and based on bagel's comments on a blower making more...
Thank you for the input. Will look at blower versions of the card. Any thoughts on which case is better? Or what sound card would offer 5.1 and work for a smaller case?
The MSI B450I says 7.1 output but I don't see any optical output on it.
Hello,
First time building in a while - last time was a decade ago. I've never built a micro or mini-itx either.
Looking to build a compact system that I can move from office to living room as required. Use will be gaming, media centre and some light video editing.
How does the below look...
All put together last night and, touch wood, seems to be running well - thank you for all the advice! Much appreciated as it had been a while.
In terms of comments I'd say I was a bit unimpressed with the condition of the Bitfenix case on arrival. The plastic housings that surround the screws...
Cheers - thanks for the quick replies.
As for the keyboard - I actually don't mind it for a budget one, have already tried a friends.
Most of my gaming I'll be using a Wolfking KB that I've already got anyway.
Thanks - they seem to be about £20. Might just stump up the extra for a SATA storage drive.
I went for this in the end guys:
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
ASRock Z77E-ITX Intel Z77...
hi guys, got my new parts arriving tomorrow.
Just wondering, will I be able to use an old IDE 200GB hard drive with the Asrock Mini Itx board?
(SSD will be my primary)
Would I have to get a converter?
Thanks
