    980ti upgrade

Best GPU's in your budget both in terms of performance and bang for buck are the 7900 GRE, then the 4070 Super if you prefer the green team Though both are total overkill if you mainly play 4x games These are pretty good deals...

    Decent upgrade from 2070S?

It's an old CPU nearing the end of useful life as a top end gaming machine but realistically it depends on how overlclocked the 10980xe is. What is your cinebench r23 single core ? The stock result at 4.8ghz is 1200, which is half of what any modern CPU from intel or AMD will give you. I know...

    U.S. issues warning to NVIDIA

If sanctions on Russia have shown us anything it's that sanctions are extremely effective. The EU was one of Russias most important trading partners, not so much anymore. Russia’s share in extra-EU imports fell from 9.6% in February 2022 to 1.7% in June 2023. The share of extra-EU exports fell...

    Rog strix 4090 core/hot spot

There's such a thing as thermal pumping which affects very high power GPUs. The thermal interface material essentialy gets pushed out by the difference in thermal expansion between the GPU silicon and the copper heatsink. Did you buy the GPU new? If so consider to return it, or just live with...

    Query over cpu bottleneck

If you don't have any issues with th games you are playing then there's no point spending money. IMO it is at least in principle a worthwhile upgrade going from 1700x to 5600x3d or 5800x3d, you should see a 50%+ improvement in CPU limited scenarios.

    3080 to 7900XT (second hand)

Treating that resolution as aproximately 4k. Hogwarts Legacy seems to go from 50fps to 61fps at ultra settings no RT so bang on 20%. Neither GPU can really handle RT but it does highlight the VRam issues of the 3080 10gb. https://www.techspot.com/review/2627-hogwarts-legacy-benchmark/ There...

At first glance, probably not worth it. What games does she play?

    3080ti fe power cable

Wouldn't recommend it. The pcie 6/8 pin connector were massively derated by pcisig and could handle 350w based on the pin size and a suitable wire guage but was only rated to 150w. So any issues with your custom cables wouldn't make much if any difference. The 12pin is a different beast, it's...

    Future-proofing your GPU.

It really depends on what you want to play and at what resolution and what budget you are on. But for sure there's no such thing as future proof, current gen consoles can be a somewhat useful guides to component selection but my honest suggestion is to spec your pc for the games you want to play...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

US export restrictions take a uniquely global view, so even if you are exporting from the UK or wherever if you are shipping products of US origin then in their view the US restrictions apply. If it's found that prohibited products are getting to a restricted country or person they will go all...

    NVIDIA 4000 Series

The restrictions are based on performance thresholds per commerce control list category 3. Specifically 3A090 which controls the export of ICs that have memory bandwidth exceeding 600Gbyte/s and processing exceeding 4800Tops (600T iops 8bit, 300T flops 16bit) It's the combination of tensor...

Out of the game since 2011; help with adding a Gfx card to this system.

If upgrading the PSU is problematic then I believe that the gtx 1650 or rx6400 or some special rtx3050s are the fastest GPUs without external power. None of those are great options though as they are old tech. Edit: sorry the 3050 6gb isn't actually available yet. A2000 is therefore technically...

    am i mad ?

If you don't plan on on reselling the card when you are done with it then go for it. It you are, then it's slightly harder to resell watercooled cards than air cooled ones.

Nvidia moves from semi-annual to Annual GPU architecture launches

I think he is suggesting that the thread title should read Biennial rather than Bi-annual

    6700XT

It's more than 10%faster than 6700xt Or 25% over a 6700 in all situations More with raytracing

    6700XT

Yes more than 4 years old No 2080ti is more than 2x faster than a 6600 rather than not that much faster, and certainly out performs the 6700 mentioned by a very wide margin. Failure rate is a reasonable concern, but you would expect most cards that will fail to have failed already per bathtub curve.

    6700XT

I've never seen the point in upgrading for less than 2x performance. Best bang for buck in your budget is probably a used 2080ti

Just what is NVIDIA up to?

Probably less of an issue than you might think, the limit of 24gb vram mean that consumer GPUs are only really useful for hobbyist Ai applications. It's governments and corporations buying thousands at a time that are driving this.

Yes I was going off the FY 2023 results, you are quite correct for 2024

Just what is NVIDIA up to?

Nvidia have been engineering the Ai market into existence with their software and hardware. Ai has been their long term strategy for years, they bought Mellanox in 2020 for exactly that reason. Graphics has already dropped to 40% of Nvidias revenues and will likely continue to diminish. I don't...
