I am in the same boat and it is a sad state of affairs. I'm pretty pressed for cash so i think im going to wait it out and hope for the best. It's annoying though as i dawdled on the launch day for a 64 :'(
A 1080 FE though, and considering the 1080 OCs better it is a bit of a skewed argument. Lets try and not distort the reality here.
And as i said above, if people are annoyed by this launch it is only because they are disappointed.

People can take whatever perspective they like on this but to say it is selling well and that people are infuriated is just a load of tosh. No one wants an uncompetitive market and if people are annoyed the only reason is because they are...
They aren't selling that well and the whole release has been a **** show. Also to say it matches/beats a 1080 is a lie. There isn't really much credibility AMD can take away from this, they need to go and ferment this fine wine we now expect.
If AMD are creating a false reality which will last another month or two, once they have collected more profit, it could suggest they will drop back to the £450 price, i hope.
It's going to rival the 1080 and the rumour is that it will be priced the same. AMD will argue the cheaper Freesync monitor route will elevate it above the 1080.
I don't even think the FE is running at it's supposed base ability yet, with it's current drivers. So to extrapolate from that the performance of RX Vega based on it's on paper statistics is going to always going to give inaccurate or underwhelming results
