    Mountain Biking

Quite excited to have just ordered my first Mtb in over 15 years! I've been muddling on with an old Saracen, but it was knackered and I fancied a bit more adventurous cycling this year. Went for a Canyon Stoic 3. Had a bit of a wobble on sizing, I'm 6'1" which puts me into their large frame...

Arcade High Scores! New Game Every Two Weeks

Had a couple of goes last night. Got 50 on my first try, with Homer, then about 35 on second go, with Marge. It's a game I always looked out for, but only ever played a handful of times back in the day. I remember Flambards in Cornwall had it, when I was on holiday there. I did play it with...

Why was the early 90's so successful for UK game production?

The popularity of home micros here, rather than the consoles of the US meant every gamer had a game dev machine at their fingertips. And you could make commercial quality games from your bedroom and even get published, at least in the 8-bit era. Those guys then powered the 90s scene.

    Commodore 2000k found in attic

Had to Google what it was. Looks quite similar to the Videomaster Visionscore I picked up at a boot sale a decade ago. I've never even plugged it in. Don't know about the commodore, but my unit was pretty worthless last time I checked prices.

    RIP Louis Gossett Jr

I knew I knew who he was and had seen him in  something, but had to check his filmography. It was Midnight Sting / Diggstown that I remember him in. By no means a great movie, but one I greatly enjoy. Not a bad age, 87.

Once in a lifetime gift but unfortunately not for everyone

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Fourscore years is a good innings, so says the Bible. Happy birthday!

How Easy Is It To Sell an Old Piano These Days?

We sold one 4 or 5 years ago. Think we put it on gumtree or Facebook or something, and there was some youth organisation or charity who makes use of them and paid about £40 for it. I'd suggested advertising it for free, but putting a small charge does help to ward off time wasters.

    UK Gladiators - 2024 reboot

That makes sense as to why I didn't really notice how good Kerry was in the heats: it was the first episode so hard to benchmark, and doubly so since she went against the fastest loser.

    UK Gladiators - 2024 reboot

I do question what they were doing in the original selection process to leave him out, though. Not only is he a very strong contender, but he's quite a fun character too. Seems perfect to get picked, really. I had picked Chung to win the whole thing after the heats, so disappointed to see him...

    Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (06.09.2024)

I rewatched the original for the first time in about 25 years a while ago, possibly during lockdown. I had totally not remembered how little Beetlejuice himself is actually in it: he's onscreen for about 10 minutes or something!

Bacon butties - with or without butter?

Brioche buns are a particular pet hate of mine, tbh. I'm very upset that I can't have a burger in a pub or mid market restaurant that isn't in a silly sweet roll, so definitely not for a breakfast bap either :D

Payraise.. how much do you expect? how much did you get?

After the inflation we've seen, that's criminal. I'd be moving on.

Bacon butties - with or without butter?

Butter and ketchup preferably. I've been really into breakfast baps (or sandwiches if no baps to hand) lately. Sausages (cut in half lengthways), mushrooms, bacon, fried egg, ketchup. Amazing! The sausages seem to be the key bit. I really like the Asda 'flavourful pork sausages': their...
