Are you going to want to generate mains voltage from the battery, or just DC?

Mesh system which allows multiple bandwidth limited guest networks?

Doesn’t even need to be guest networks to be honest, just an SSID per VLAN and firewall rules to prevent inter-vlan traffic.

    Thinking of moving to Cyprus

If I could emigrate I would, but getting a child with additional needs into the countries I’d want to go to seems to border on impossible, seems a little draconian, but it is what it is. Go for it if you can make it work!

When are you going fully electric?

They drive great (as does the Audi eTron GT), but they are overpriced (list) IMO, positioned to look higher in the range than they should be. Buying a used one could be a good deal, buying one new will likely result in a rinsing. Leasing one (or salary sacrifice) is probably easier to stomach...

    BMW F33 435i Roof Won't Latch

How deep was your water ingress? Mine ended up high enough to saturate the foam around the roof motor, which eventually corroded it to the point of failure.

When are you going fully electric?

It’s time for the population to stop being so selfish tbh. Are EVs ideal for long distances? No. Are they better in terms of decarbonisation that is absolutely required for our continued inhabitance of this planet? Yes. Will better technology likely appear later, also yes. Unfortunately left...

Help with old MAcbook Pro - how do I make it boot up?

I’ve got back to 10.0 if anyone needs those for whatever reason. My NAS hates me just as much.

Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

She’d have had a worse quality of life and a lower life expectancy. She would have had to have upwards of 10-20 skin piercing glucose tests a day and any number of manual insulin injections. Those environments caring for her would have needed medically trained staff on hand rather than just...

    Emergency Savings

I tend to try and keep 6 months of day-to-day living savings in instant access accounts for the unlikely event that I end up jobless. This way I’m not worried about keeping a roof over the family’s heads. I could probably stretch that out to 9 months by cutting back on luxuries, and easily...

Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

Whilst technically true, it’s her phone, in her name, with her accounts configured. The fact that she primarily has it with her for carers to use is irrelevant, she can (and does) use it herself, and we want to encourage that so she can manage her own destiny as soon as possible.

Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

Exactly. My daughters phone can’t install any app without my (or my wife’s) permission. She can only access certain apps outside of the dedicated screen time hours, and communication is restricted to trusted contacts.

When are you going fully electric?

Indeed. We tend to let the engine run through one cycle of idling whilst using EV power if we know we will be needed the engine later on in the journey, then making sure we have “hybrid” mode enabled so it continues to switch between EV and ICE depending on throttle load. We NEVER use GTE...

Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

My 3 year old has a smart phone (iPhone SE 2022), she’s had it since she was 2 and HAS to have it with her at all times so that we can receive her blood glucose readings when she’s not with us (nursery, babysitter, etc), and so that the same carers have a device that they can use to monitor...

Installing a network printer on a small network connected to a server running Server2019

If you are planning on removing the on-prem server in favour of going cloud-based (assuming not a lift and shift to Azure/AWS), you could always install a small device like an RPi and set up CUPS. Then you still have centralised print management, but no reliance on the S2019 box.

    Family dispute incoming
