Any way to find 3rd party laptop keyboard alternatives?

Hi all. A few buttons on my laptop are dead and I wanted to replace it. I opened it up and the model is scdy-300-8-5 yxt-nb91-16 The problem is that I only find keyboards for about 30$ and only very few places sell them. The thing though is that, I am fairly sure that the keyboard is "generic"...

Strange Problem: Random reboots - Needs power off to start again.

I *think* I have solved it. I *think* it is the bios trying to update via the internet that is causing some issue. I turned that off in BIOS and it seems to be stable now (no reboot in 2 days and counting). I kind hope that is it :). Anyway, if anyone has the same issue, maybe also something...

Strange Problem: Random reboots - Needs power off to start again.

Could very much be. I ran a CPU stress-test for 10 min. No problems. Strange that idle use would trigger it then. But maybe it is normal? Any other way I can test it? Should I stress-test longer?

Strange Problem: Random reboots - Needs power off to start again.

Hi all. I bought a used Hp Prodesk 600 G1. This is the timeline of the events: I bent a few pins on the motherboard (CPU socket). PC would not turn on. I straightened the Pins and pressed the CMOS button (jumper?). PC turned on, though the initial HP screen comes up twice. I installed Linux...

Looking for a cheap sound card for linux, to avoid damaging ears.

It is wrong? I have heard it from a semi-random Youtuber. I say semi-random, cause I have seen his videos often and he seems to know a little bit about tech. The argument was that, if the onboard audio is very bad, it will have higher spikes in volumes, one that might not even be fully...

Looking for a cheap sound card for linux, to avoid damaging ears.

Hi all, I have heard that the onboard audio on many a cheap motherboard/laptop is actually rather damaging to the ears. As such, I thought I would buy a (potentially used) audio card to avoid that. I have no further requirements on these sound cards, other than to protect the ears...

My Laptop (i5 7200 U, GTX 950m) horribly lags when watching 4k Video.

Hi all, not sure if it the right place to ask this. If it is the wrong subforum, please redirect me to the right place. I have a Laptop with an i5 7200U Intel CPU and a GTX 950m dedicated GPU. It came installed with Windows 10, I had to work a little, but I managed to install Windows 7, I even...

Should I upgrade my new Xiaomi mi A2 lite to Android 9? (Pie)

Hmm.. all right... not a bad idea I asked than :D I will wait a little than. Maybe 9.1 will fix these things... lets see how things go. Since I am not using any "avantgarde" apps, I do not think that I need any added security etc. So why mess with what I think is a rather nifty OS. Cheers all...

Should I upgrade my new Xiaomi mi A2 lite to Android 9? (Pie)

Thank you very much for the replay Janesy. I am an extreme noob when it comes to phones, so when you say do you mean that I should boot into the recovery mode to clear the device cache? (I am just asking since for most apps. you can just clear the cache when its in normal mode... I think at...

Should I upgrade my new Xiaomi mi A2 lite to Android 9? (Pie)

Hi all. The title basically says it all. I have had a crappy experience once, when I updated my IPod 4 to the 5th gen ios. The once fast and sleek gadget became annoyingly slow and unresponsive. (The new version reqired 512mb ram, which Iphone 4 had. The Ipod 4 had 256mb... But they did not...

Elephone U vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite vs Xiaomi Mi A2

Thank you very much Scam. Yeah, from the reviews I have heard about it, it seems great, for the price. (Of course if you have a Samsung S9, you will find it sub-par, but no one is claiming otherwise). To be fair, it is kinda my hidden favourite as well, but I always thought that the reason it was...

Elephone U vs Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite vs Xiaomi Mi A2

Hi all, as the thread name says, which one would you guys recommend? I have read up about them quite a bit, but its difficult for me to say. They all cost the same! Things that are important to me (in that order): -Music quality with earphones! (not from speakers) -Snappy response to everyday...

Li-ion battery : Connected to AC at 100% vs. Charging 35%-75%.

Fair enough. I was given to understand that typical laptop batteries discharge to 99% often in a few minutes. So, having it go 99-100, 100-99 10 times an hour seemed also quite stressful. I am kinda sad that with about 5 gazzillion articles about battery care, no one actually writes anything more...

Li-ion battery : Connected to AC at 100% vs. Charging 35%-75%.

I am pretty sure that this feature exists on this laptop, as well as on most semi-modern ones. The thing though is this, the battery naturally discharges to 99%, and fairly fast too. (Much fast than say 50-49%). At this stage, `some' (I am not sure if this laptop does or not, I asked on their...

Li-ion battery : Connected to AC at 100% vs. Charging 35%-75%.

Hi all. I had a question about battery care. I know neither is ideal, but, of these two, which one is better? 1. Constantly having the Laptop connected to the AC at 100% 2. Charging to 75%, using on battery till its on 35%, than charging to 75% again etc. Ignoring the impracticality of the...

Guide: Installing Windows 7 on a Kaby Lake PC.

Hi everyone. This is a guide on how to install Windows 7 64-bit version with all its essential drivers on an Acer E5 575G 54T8 Laptop. This is a Kaby Lake based PC and I expect that many, if not all, of these steps can be applied to many other Kaby Lake based PC's. NOTE: This is just a...

Installing Intels Kaby Lake Drivers on a Windows 7 Laptop

I also managed to install the USB drivers, which is the other complicated thing. I thought I would mention it, in case someone else needs it. Go to Windows 7* USB 3.0 Creator Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility Than, download the windows...

Installing Intels Kaby Lake Drivers on a Windows 7 Laptop

@deuse I too hate windows 10 with a passion. It still baffles me that it is not outright illegal what is going on. Be it privacy issues (I mean, the postal service is not allowed to open a letter, how is this ok?), be it essentially a cartel (Microsoft, Intel AMD and possibly even Nvidia...
