New system: Graphics tearing from boot

Ive been able to try an older GPU in the new machine, and all is fine. However I dont have another machine I can use with enough of the 6 pin GPU power connectors to power the 6870 :s

New system: Graphics tearing from boot

Ive built up a new system, and Ive started getting tearing and interference on the screen. It was working fine when I first built the system a few days ago, but it started while I was in some games such as Rage, and COD MW2. Now its even when booting. The machines spec is as follows...

Have you ever had to sell you're pride and joy?

I feel I can empathise with you Rob, I've just bought a house, it needs work, it needs a lot of money - and people have suggested selling the FD. However I have a daily driver, which is economical, and if I sold the FD I'd only want another one in the very near future. Therefore I've come to...

Advice / opinions from those with a work horse and a weekend toy

I drive two cars, an FD RX7 and an EJ9 Civic. I did daily drive the FD RX7 for a while, but there was little point having all that power on the commute while having poor fuel economy. So I got the Civic. Perhaps its because of what the weekend car is, but its cheaper for me to run two...

Would you swap speed bumps for SPECs?

I agree with NathanE - if they could sort the technology for it. So would I, but Dolph, don't expect sensible suggestions, that'd actually work to be implemented. Its my opinion that the driving test should be harder, you should be required to re-take it at least every 10 years, and driver...

    Thinkpad x100e - a worthy upgrade from a T42?

A good point Aod, something I hadnt considered - Ive not had my hands on any of the lower end thinkpads, only the Lenovo 'non-thinkpad' laptops of similar price. I shall have to have a look for ex-showroom - thanks for the tip mate!

    Thinkpad x100e - a worthy upgrade from a T42?

...or worthy replacement of at least. My trusty T42 Thinkpad is getting a little tired and long in the tooth, and I can't really justify spending a large amount something like the Thinkpad X500. The x100e has caught my eye, as PcPro rate it highly, and it seems pretty dinky. Do you think I'd...

    Cars - Most are financed?

If you never use credit, you'll not create a detailed credit score, making you less likely to get credit in the future, like applying for a mortgage (or are you going to pay cash for that too?) Having no credit history is almost as bad as having a bad one, your an unknown.

    My 200mph budget build

I appreciate the size issue completely, and a 5'9" I've more room to manoeuvre in my FD, however my opinion is that your taking the safety considerations too lightly.

    My 200mph budget build

Just to confirm - are you fitting a roll cage to the car?

Spec me up some fun (DC2?)

Evo magazine regard the DC2 ITR as the best handling FWD car. Ever. ...and they drive a lot of fast cars. Drive one, and you'll realise why. If I had to buy a FWD car right now, it'd be a JDM DC2.

    Are SuperDry Windcheater coats...

Me too - t-shirt, jumper, jacket, and its 3 zips, perhaps the shock of so many teeth makes those who mock lose their numeracy skills. ;) Its warm enough, as jackets go, for £50. That's all well and good, but if you dont spend a lot of time outdoors, paying £250 for a coat is a little steep...

    Thankyou Dangerous!

Ah yes - the video. Well I've chopped it down, its between about 30 and 38s... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p7HN9_y7yI

    Thankyou Dangerous!

Didn't buy it off the guy driving it on the video, bought it off the guy he sold it to - who's a friend. Once sold to the friend it did end up requiring a rebuild pretty early on though, and I know all the history I need to. I didn't ever imagine that I'd find something like this, its quite...

    Thankyou Dangerous!

I dont know why I do, but I still have a copy of Dangerous' 'Ring Trip 2005 lurking on my file server. Probably for reference of his video camera related posts. I thought I'd have a quick flick through. Towards the end there's a section at the 'Ring, in the car park. A Red FD RX7 goes past...

    Mugen FN2 Confirmed

<sigh> If they wanted to satisfy the enthusiasts they needed only start selling the proper Civic Type-R in the UK - the FD2, none of this FN2 tat:

So...How do I get into detailing?

Obviously some in this thread don't see the point, but as with anything, if you want the results, one way or another you need to put the work in. "It'll do" is a phrase all to many people seem to live by. I'm really into my detailing, but only to the extent that I get the results I'm happy...

What style number plates do you have?

Smallest legal UK plate I could get. Helped that I have a 5 digit reg. so isnt all that wide. Could have gone down the smaller Japanese import size ('cos its an import) but its easier to go UK than argue the finer points of vehicle construction regulations with a traffic bobby. As for...

Would you do anything about this?

I'd be intrigued to find out what this triangular tool is, I presume its a handy little aid to let the tester know what the boundaries of the centre 75% of the tyre is. As long as your happy - that's the important thing though.

    MG-ZT 260 V8 - anyone got one ?

...or as Jez said shall we take on board the fact that the headline power figure of this engine is not the sole indicator of the performance. Especially since (iirc) in the US, the engines can be bought complete from Ford, in a crate with a range of specific power outputs. All it means that...
