I'm not even entirely convinced the Ti is needed, or certainly not at least as soon as some seem to expect. Most people seemed to be calling for it because a) RAM anxiety b) assuming the 6900XT was going to be some absolute 3090 slayer. The 3080 (if you can get one and at a sensible price) now...

Is there much spread in performance across the AIB cards or is it similar as the other tiers where you're paying a ton more for overclock gains you'd need to benchmark to notice and maybe 1dB less fan noise?

No drop at all last week but there was 3070s and 3090s the week before that.

When did we last have a completely drop-free week? Even if the 80s have been hard to come by, usually there's been at least one drop made of 90s and/or 70s.

There probably wasn't. Quite likely a lot of people trying to buy it simply couldn't because they also got caught in the perpetual hell of the AMD website checkout process.

Yes, exactly what i've seen happening too. Once the completed page actually executes then it hoiks you back to the shipping page with the region not allowed crap.

Same, got to the place order button a couple of times and the confirmation page borked. Then it eventually kicked me back to the shipping page and decided the UK isn't supported. Utter farce.

That would only be ridiculous if there was a genuine opportunity to buy one on launch day. They may as well do what happened with the 3070 and put the launch off (not that it helped in terms of stock availability improving with more time allowed).

I momentarily considered just going all in due to F5 fatigue, but then remembered i'd need a new PSU on top (750W EVGA unit currently with a few miles on the clock now).

The 3080s are clearly around on some level. There was a drop on a German site today of 3080FE cards (could've had one too if i'd had German, Dutch or Belgian address to ship to).

OK the situation will change in just over a month but until then a Brit could quite easily order the same item with the same warranty from anywhere else in the EU with maybe a day or two's delay in delivery. Obviously if you went further afield (importing from the US or far east for instance)...

I think thats site traffic looking at respective products, not necessarily units shipped. Probably not a huge surprise the 3080 is a lot lower interest given the reference cards never went to resellers.

Shouldn't make a jot of difference currently. Some of the ports are a bit rammed currently but I assume any cards would be air freight for the time being.

Are AIB 3080s cheaper though or do you mean versus a 3080 FE that is also near-impossible to buy?

The Ti I thought was rumoured to be a cheaper lower RAM version of the 3090 (probably with a MRSP of about a grand). As others have said though, it seems unlikely they'd drop the 3080 otherwise there would be a massive price gap in their offerings. And dropping it would seem even more...

They didn't exactly carpet-bomb last Wednesday though. I'd suspect they just want to get cards to market whenever they can actually manage it, rather some cunning party-spoiling master plan.
