MSI B550 Gaming Plus upgrade path

THat's reassuring... I guess you needed to update the BKIOS for the CPU support? Would be interested to see how you get on with that switch of memory... Screenshot of the compatibility checker here for my DIMMs, which I read as only 2 DIMM supported, so interested that you're getting all 4...

MSI B550 Gaming Plus upgrade path

Good point - should have mentioned that. Mostly Lightroom and Premiere Pro, with some rendering. Little to no gaming.

MSI B550 Gaming Plus upgrade path

Wondering if the time is right for an upgrade on my B550 - it presently has a Ryzen 3700x and I spotted the mobo will support a 5900x with a BIOS update so was thinking about upgrading. Current config also includes 2 x 16GB 3200MHZ Corsair Vengeance DDR4 DIMMs (CMW32GX4M2Z3200C16), an AData...

GPU for 8k and 4K in parallel?

I was thinking the 4k would likely run off the HDMI (vs the 8k), or off the third DP Sorry, probably being dumb here and missing something obvious, but wondered what you meant by an **50 card?

GPU for 8k and 4K in parallel?

Cool, ta. Was unsure if the card had enough ooomph to run 8k and 4K together @60Hz…

GPU for 8k and 4K in parallel?

Hypothetical question (for the time being at least…) Not for gaming, but for photo editing, 8K would allow me 100% resolution views in LR or PS. Given it has 3 x DP 1.4 and HDMI rated for 4K, would an RTX3080 allow an 8k monitor to run @60Hz off 2x DP with the other DP or the HDMI running a 4K...

    Replace CPU fan with SP120?

As per title, is there any reason, other than perhaps taste and decency, why a 120mm CPU cooler fan could not be replaced with a Corsair SP120 ARGB one to add RGB? It's non-PWM, so assume it'll just be controlled by DC voltage on the CPU header?

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

Agree - the budget is fairly controlled, so the 3900/Toma for ca £440 is appealing if still available, and I think the board does all I need it to do for the foreseeable future, but best I found with any stock was more like £500... Given the x470 Gaming Max board is £30 cheaper than the...

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

OK, that makes sense - thanks for clarifying. Guess it's too early to know which of the new B550 boards is best to go for just yet, in terms of which vendor has the best implementations?

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

OK, help me out here, please - what does the B550 give me for the £50+ extra, for the intended build that the B450 doesn't? I'm aware of the M2 from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 4.0 but, to be honest, an M2 PCIe 3.0 is more than quick enough, realistically and I'm not going to be getting 4000 MHz RAM and...

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

Guessing that bundle was about £500 including stock cooler, if I’m seeing the right thing? Looks appealing, as the MSI carbon board is worth the extra £10 - the 5v headers on that board would be useful as I may get persuaded to put ARGB in the case....

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

That's some interesting thoughts - One of the ideas for the 2 drives in LR seems to like having cache/catalogue and images on different drives, but given the speed of the M2 that's worth a think. I was also pondering RAM speed - I see a lot of chatter around DDR4 3600 CAS18 for anything above...

    Pimp my £1k lightroom build?

Hi all, Considering the following spec for a Lightroom PC and odd bits of video editing, for a possible future Mavic Air purchase. No gaming intended and roughly £1k budget, plus a copy of Win10. Will be linked up to a 4K Dell IPS monitor and 6TB NAS backup I already have. Current thoughts...

GameMax F15M Gaming Case (Budget Cooler Master H500M)

That's.... well, lets just say "not obvious"...! :) Out of interest, which Asrock board, and which connection was made? I'm guessing the black lead off the base of the controller to the 4-pin (well, really three as one is absent) 5v RGB header, not a 3pin Corsair/VGB header?

GameMax F15M Gaming Case (Budget Cooler Master H500M)

Just checking I'm not talking at cross purposes here - did you get the Kamikazee or the F15? Wondering if anyone has managed to get this GamePro ARGB hub/ MSI mobo combo working? Alternate option might be a Corsair iCue 220 case - a little more expensive but I assume the hub on that connects...

GameMax F15M Gaming Case (Budget Cooler Master H500M)

Did you get anywhere with this? My take on the "full build" video was the wire off the little controller hub (white connector) went to the front panel and the ones on the bottom end went to the PWM header and the 5V ARGB/JRainbow motherboard header to enable control via the motherboard? Was...

Working from home - cheapy (£350) PC upgrade?

As per title - both me and Mrs Scoop are now wfh and I've been kicked off the PC I usually use onto the slower one as I'll be using it less. Wondering if it's time for a low budget upgrade as both are getting a bit old. As it stands: PC upstairs is an i5-3570K, 256GB Sandisk Evo SSD, 24GB...
