MX5 Owners in here....bring your curling tongs

I pulled out the boot carpet and had a look at all the fuel hoses as I've had an increasingly noticeable petrol smell when the car is parked up, especially if it has been warm. Everything was perfect so I'm hoping that it's the fuel cap which seems to be a common issue. My one has always given a...

    *** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I think a good old fashioned bucket wash is fine TBH as long as you give the car a good soaking with the hose first off. I'd say bin the sponge and get yourself a wash mitt. Add another bucket so you rinse the dirty mit in one and keep the other with just clean soapy water in it. I'd also...

CTEK MXS 7.0 and Comfort Connect - AMG C63 (W204)

Assuming a nice thick rubber seal that the cable can simply bed into when the boot is shut I'd be perfectly fine with that setup.

Returning a lease car with damage

You should advise your colleague to channel their inner used car salesman and when asked about the damage respond with... *sarcastic shrug* "Its a three year old car, what do you expect?" *smirk*

Need help with a PCN...signage on the opposite side of the road

It's annoying to get a fine but the signage is clear enough. Pay up and move on as there are more important things to worry about in life.

MX5 Owners in here....bring your curling tongs

Car looks tidy and I love the stickers! Have the sills been looked at though as they look like they are crying rusty tears :(

Yes, a spray of ceramic coating will do the job nicely.

With Super Resin Polish you haven't really got any cutting power, it's trick is filling the swirls to make them less visible. You want a firm application for it to do it's stuff but you don't really need to apply pressure as such. One panel at a time sounds good and make sure you don't use too...

Road to Rotary: Japan to France in an RX7

Ah OK, that makes more sense! I'm sure you know what you are doing. I work away a lot, thankfully for shorter stints than I used to, and it can be tough but your situation sounds very different to mine. It'll be an adventure, that's for sure! Is the plan to try and make a break into the...

Road to Rotary: Japan to France in an RX7

Won't that take you over a month if you are only doing 5 or 6 hours a day? That's before you include any lost days due to mechanicals, illness etc. It sounds like full time work commitments won't be a factor by then but that seems like a long stretch away from the family.

Educate me about roof bars/bike carriers.

While you are on there check out the Atera branded bars. I was massively impressed with my ones both in terms of quality and ease of use.

    Your bad driving encounters

Is it just me or has the phenomenon I like to call 'truckers weave' suddenly become an epidemic on our roads? Weaving randomly over lanes, into the hard shoulder or, as I witnessed half an hour ago, straight into the verge. Are these guys falling asleep at the wheel? On their phones? *******...

When are you going fully electric?

Don't the additives in V-Power become less effective over time? If so there's no point having it just sitting in the tank, you might as well fill up with regular 95. I've come off of roundabouts at the same time as some quick EVs recently (mainly Model 3's). Now admittedly I'm not maxing out my...

When are you going fully electric?

Only if the net result of every claim is to write the car off and replace it. If parts are difficult to source or a country lacks the technicians required for works relating to a particular brand then repairs will be expensive. Expensive repairs = bigger insurance claims = bigger premiums.

When are you going fully electric?

What a weird attitude. Last car I saw broken down was a Cupra Born on the M6 toll travelling in the opposite direction. The guy looked properly distressed and had his family with him, I really felt for the guy. Maybe I should have revelled in the "ironing" of it because his car is fuelled...

When are you going fully electric?

Still don't get the irony around a broken down car. Or why you seem to think cruise control is isolated to EVs.

Drift Game HQ Ireland ...Everything is gone! :(

Damn, that is a lot of people out of business. Being a centralised 'hub' should mean that they are insured to the ying yangs though so hopefully people can rebuild and relaunch. Assuming the insurance companies don't drag out the payments for years which they invariably will.
