Is it time to ban LED Headlights

I never noticed buses or lorries behind with lights that dazzle from behind but some SUVs do. I suspect the best solution would be a stricter MOT test for headlights - it doesn't appear to have every been updates and they just wheel that thing in front of the light and look at it projected onto...

Is it time to ban LED Headlights

8 People die a year in accidents where being dazzled was an excuse used according to an RAC article I read yesterday.

Legal to exceed speed limit exception?

You're unlikely to get busted for a positive deviation over the stop line as long as you do so with due diligence and don't cross the junction or gain any other advantage from doing so.

Does anyone know a good brand of brake pad?

Can be normal on cars this side of the millennia with EBD to favour rear-bias braking in gentle city-speed braking and I suspect vans may be similar. Check the rear wheels are not hot after a long run without too much braking as if they are, the pads may be excessively dragging.

    Insurance help needed urgent

Basically they will put your reported incident on an Insurance Claims Portal, where it will sit open for 2 years unless settled. https://www.claimsportal.org.uk/news/portal-upgrades/ It will sit there waiting for another insurer to find and match with a claim from their insured. I myself would...

    Mandatory Driving Test

Seems stupid to me that you can hand-in a foreign license and exchange it for a UK one. Okay maybe 60 years ago but should not be the case nowadays.

    This Morning Car Wouldn't Start...

What car is it? What engine? Age? I think the brake pedal is a red herring. As cars that require the brake pedal to be pressed don't crank without it. The only think the brake pedal may have done is the master cylinder pull or release a little air from the intake manifold (depending on car/engine)

    Winter tyre advice giulia Quad

I do not like All-Seasons. 2-3 years ago I bought 4x Bridgestone WeatherControl Evo for wife's Megane and they seemed fine, but got 4 x Goodyear Vector Gen3 for my Audi A8 after they came top in the big review videos and they were awful. Just as I imagined winter tyres to be, expensive, noisy...

    Runflats on a Focus

I was of the opinion that wheels for run-flat tyres have a differently profiled rim to secure the tyre to the rim when the tyre is running deflated.

Insurance being cancelled due to too many changes when I made the quote?

Experian run this service for Insurers, a former Colleague used to work there previously and warned me about this. Quote massaging. I too have done what you did just out of curiosity to see what makes a difference to the price and never had it cancelled though. Go though there official...

The RAC have lost my car.

I can't remember when I last saw an RAC van, I do recall seeing AA though. I wonder what the market share is, or do they farm most things out like Green Flag? In fact, I would say RAC are now the third breakdown company behind AA and Green Flag - a position that used to be held by Green Flag.

Anyone seeing car insurance pricing increases?

Hmm, I wonder if that is just being exploitive or if they have crunched the stats on Days until policy start vs. risk ? I can imagine those who leave it until the last minute also do that for braking and maintenance etc....

Company Car EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme

I guess these prices are for no deposit, whereas the ones you see advertised on-line require a few grand to be stumped up immediately?

    **Unofficial Tyre Thread**

I bought a set of Goodyear Vector 4 season G3 a couple of years ago based on this channels test. Worst tyres I have ever had in every way. Never bother with tyre reviews after that.

    F1 Develops synthetic sustainable fuel

What about Hydrocracked Vegetable Oil - HVO? it is made from vegetable oil but is made in a similar way to how fuels are made from crude. You can already buy it in bulk as a drop in replacement for the all but recently outlawed red diesel.
