connecting two monitors at 4k at 165hz

Just plug them in and set them up however you want. No reason you cant have 4L 165hz on both at the same time. I have the same screen, works with both DP and HDMI 2.1 but I find HDMI initializes quicker than. Make sure you have updated to the latest firmware from Samsunds website as setting...

    Cheapest Card with HDMI 2.1?

Yeah its easy to tell over 60hz just from the desktop. Easier than in gaming in my opinion.

    Cheapest Card with HDMI 2.1?

I think Nvidia 30 series was the first with HDMI 2.1 (not sure about AMD) Another option if your dad is not gaming is upgrading his motherboard & cpu to something with onboard HDMI 2.1.

How do you guys gauge a 2nd hand cards reliability?

Depends on the manufacturer, most of the time no. Online retailers will generally only deal with the person who bought the card in my experience.

How do you guys gauge a 2nd hand cards reliability?

Think they are talking about the 12 month warranty with new cards.

How do you guys gauge a 2nd hand cards reliability?

Just stress test it with 3d mark and if it doesn't pass strip it down and repaste the gpu.

Identifying a good DisplayPort 1.4a cable?

Unless you need a particularly long cable (over 5 meters) I'd not worry about it too much, just get one thats the right 1.4a spec and if its not working right then return it. HDMI 2.1 would be fine too if your GPU and monitor support it.

Which games do you like to test a new GPU with ?

Yeah I remember getting an 8800 gts for the first Crysis and was lucky to get 30fps. Still played through the night to complete it in one sitting, it was glorious.

Which games do you like to test a new GPU with ?

Used to be Crysis 3 but nowadays I'd probably go with something Ray Tracing heavy like cyberpunk or Alan Wake 2.

    Help with 4k Choices

Defintiley the 43" ROG STRIX XG43UQ out of that bunch just for the HDR1000 (or as some call it, proper HDR) Only slight issue with it is I'd personally find it a bit big but that is personal preference (4K 32" is the sweet spot for me) Upgrading from their you would just be looking at Mini LED...

    27" 1440p 75hz --> 144hz worth it?

I would if I were you your gpu should handle it. If a game runs under it will just run as high as it can, no specific range with the normal range. G sync will probably only work within a range but it's usually fron about 48 fps so you should be fine.

What is a good cost worth upgrade from a rx580

Depends on budget anduse case, if low at used 1080ti would not be a bad upgrade. Higher budget and I'd probably be look ling at 3070 upwards

Asus STRIX B650E-F with Ryzen 5 7600 - Wise to disable onboard iGPU?

Yeah its not a permanant setting or anything like that. Switch it off and do some benching and let us know if it makes any difference or not.

Asus STRIX B650E-F with Ryzen 5 7600 - Wise to disable onboard iGPU?

No reason you shouldnt if you are OK with losing that fuctionality, I like having the option to use it as an extra Display Output in case I need to trobleshoot a GPU for whatever reason, or just an extra output if I need it. Not sure if there will be significant performance gains or not tbh.

    Monitor arm needed

You would need to read the specs for both. I'm at work using a mobile so not straight forward for me to Google it for you right now.

    Monitor arm needed

I find the Amazon Basic monitor arms (single and dual) to be fine with all the 32" monitors I've had.

Asus X99-E Gen 3 16x PCI Mobo VS PCI Gen 4 RTX A4000 GPU

Bottlenecks doing what? If gaming then there is nothing majorly significant between PCIE 3.0 and 4.0 GPUs but will depend on what CPU/GPU/Monitor resolution/frame rate you are using. Higher resolutions have less issues with CPU/GPU bottlenecks but that would apply to any setup. Biggest...

EVGA GTX 1070 SC thermal paste replacement

I'd just re-use the thermal pads if I were you. Just want to strip it down, clean up the GPU die with isopropyl alcohol and re-paste. Just take a note of the thermal pad thickness before you re-assemble in case you are still running into heat issues when you re-assemble but doubt you will be.

    I just don't get it

Using the hdr calibration app for Windows 11 makes a difference. Not available for Windows 10 last time I checked. No idea if you are or not but duplicating the screen with a non hdr screen will probably disable hdr.

Upgrading Nvidia Gefore 1080 Ti Option

RTX 3070 or 3080 (or 40 series equivalent like 4060 or 4070) would be a solid upgrade from a 1080Ti IMO and should be fine with your PSU.
