History has proven they didn't 2 of the last 4 seasons. Not sure what you're not getting...and I quoted earlier what sustainable means.
Can they? Yes, is it 100% possible? No
I admitted I made a mistake also...we are just human. Anyway, I'm stepping out and bow to your superior knowledge.
Sorry, 4 of 4 was a typo - I meant 2 of 4...must have had a senior moment! You can go back as far as you want mate, you want to go 6? Ok - so 30% is still a risk...remember, this is based on your '100%' comment.
I mentioned the last 4 because it has been one season positive, one season...
Just to clarify we were discussing xG, you didn't specifically say 4 but you said; "if you look back through the 5/6 seasons, when our attack has performed inline (or above) xG then our xPTS have been way above expectations," - 2 of the last 4 seasons (that's 50%) your attack has not performed...
So, seems we were playing with the hand-break on again last night. I get we don't want to risk losing, but I do get the feeling when we play like this it affects how well people play, misplaced passes etc. I also don't get if we're playing conservatively, why is Raya acting like we're 1-0 down...
Ha, I know exactly how xG is calculated, I just hadn't considered that is doesn't take into account the ability of the keeper. And yes, xPTS looks at the xG and simply states whichever team had the higher xG 'deserved to win' - seems another flawed metric...for example, if you didn't get more...
But the simple fact is it's not sustainable as proven by the last few years, 0 points, 5 points, 0 points - hence 'not sustainable'...even your comment about those winning the league; 6 points, 1 point, 3 points.
So no, sorry, we will have to agree to disagree...
Yeah, but your 8pts comments - LOL
5 maybe, but you only averaged 8 because you included a ridiculous season, only last season you got ~0...shows how sustainable it is
Fair points, I hadn't looked back at that - so xG doesn't factor in GK ability - which makes sense, but then shows how flawed the whole thing is I guess.
Although I see last season you didn't so...
lol, I see why you chose 5 seasons now lol...so yeah, not not sustainable but certainly ~5 is...
Sorry, I meant xPTS (also xGA) - I totally worded it wrong - point being, you've got more point's than you should have based on what is expected by quite a bit (over 8pts);

Yeah, I don't think we're seriously saying we don't need one - a striker would have earned points when we've drawn or lost and struggled to score.
Talking of xG - everyone waxes lyrical about Liverpool, but they are scoring way above xG which is not sustainable.
All teams have played the same no. of games this year except Liverpool (who matter), Newcastle, West Ham and Brighton due to the break. Point is, since our 'blip' and the break we have won every game...we can do no more than that. Add to that, last 5 matches we are 2nd to City, joint with...
Absolutely, it seems to be just aimed at Arsenal too...how many times do we see Klopp (for example) celebrating wildly - I think it's perfectly fine, it's why I'm hovering over the 'channel change' button near full-time when we're losing lol - hate it when we lose, but like to bask a bit when we...
Finally, all these years after they poached Cashly off us they will finally get their just deserts...my heart bleeds listening to their crying fans who think they have a history that was earned not bought (by hook or crook). They are right royally up the creek, they need to raise £100m by end of...
Can't argue, we can upgrade Nketiah for ~£30-40m, seems a good move...I like him but he's just not adding enough. Jesus is a bit hot and cold but some of his play is almost at WC levels at times...bring in Tony for ~£80m in the Summer and sell Nketiah seems a no brainer and fairly cheap way to...
He has got rid of Ozil, Pepe didn't seem all that bad to me (as backup for Saka which we don't have) and he's brought in a very expensive Havertz who could be our next Ozil.
We've definitely got a good group of players, better attitude, more fighting spirit and leadership than we've had for a...
