Yeah, definitely feels quicker. A lovely fat wide power band. I mean you wouldn't call it a sports car by any means, but it hustles it's weight around pretty well :)
Yeah the weight of that original flywheel was one of the reasons I changed my mind, that and cost. The way I did it in the end was half the cost. I had the adapter hub and flywheel balanced as one unit.
No probs, I'll take some pics when I get it back, should be early next week. Yes I used the CAD drawings from that SA thread, but didn't use the custom flywheel in the end, I used an aftermarket solid 4M41 flywheel which I had machined and drilled, and had a flywheel adapter made to mate it to...
Hi, I'm using the stock exhaust manifolds, my engine is from a Soarer/SC400 and the manifolds fit with no problems, but the LS400 manifolds are a different shape and foul the bellhousing.
For the engine mounts I just used some steel box section which I bolted to the 1UZ, then bolted the OEM...
I used the stock gearbox with an adapter plate, and a modified flywheel with a custom adapter (pics earlier in this thread). I'm using the original Lexus ECU and engine loom 'piggybacked' onto the Mitsubishi wiring. Dash lights were fairly easy as I just 'interecepted' the dash wiring, the 1UZ...
Air filter finally arrived today, so that's it finished pretty much. Just the exhaust now, unfortunately they ca't fit it in until next weds :(
Pretty pleased with that, looks at home in there :)
Sorry for the lack of updates, haven't had much spare time and been having issues sorting the clutch, but it's done now and today she moved under her own steam :D
I'm hoping the smoke is down to a combination of some residual diesel and rich running due to the ECU still learning. We'll see...
Ok, made some more progress. Dropping the subframe 20mm and lifting the gearbox 15mm worked a treat. I also installed the oil lines, oil cooler, and oil filter relocation. Radiator is in place, but not 100% plumed in yet as I'm waiting for some 90-degree elbows. I've also started the wiring...
Bit of an update, I haven't been able to get a lot done due to being back at work this week, but I did finish modding the sump:
I installed it but even with the mods it was tighter against the diff than I would like, so I raised the engine mounts a bit. This has given me lots of...
