I toyed with the idea of upgrading my 2070super, I was recommended 6800 and 6800XT. With that in mind, I recently upgraded from a 3700x to a 5800x3d and the results are astounding. 2070super holds up very well in 1440p - so given current pricing - i'd probably hold off til black friday sales...

would the 4070ti not be bottle necked by the CPU?

I have recently upgraded from a 3700x to a 5800x3d and the results are astounding. I have a very similar motherboard to you, and certainly 'revives' the existing architecture. I don't know what resolution you play on, but most games I play, eat RAM, so I opted for 32gb (two 16gb kit).

It is faster and cheaper, more cores, and also overclockable. However, the 5800x3d have a significantly larger L3 cache which is likely to help with gaming performance.

You can pick up a 5800x3d from competitor for approx £283.

Thanks for response. I've usually been a INNO3D fan, but unsure whether they are still around. I'm not evening sure upgrading is a solid option at the moment. I have my eyes on the 4060ti 16gb version

6800 does indeed fall within my budget and about 50% performance improvement over 2070s, but it draws 250w!?! which is quite a bit more than my existing card. Would my 750w PSU manage?

I'm not entirely sure what to expect in terms of performance gains, but i'd like at least 20-25%, more if possible but my budget is pretty constrained. 4070 is above my budget, 6800xt falls just right, but - I don't like the look of them...... pathetic I know
