    CCTV legal question

I would say that this is something the university should be sorting out with its own legal people. There are a shed load of issues that may apply. For example is the monitoring part of a research project? then it will need to take account of the fact that there are human subjects. If it is to...

    Peer reviewed journals?

Once you have the citations for key publications a quick look at the journals website should make it clear whether or not the work is peer reviewed. Where you have to be careful is if it is a news, summary or review, those may well not be reviewed but they should be citing work that is.

    Wireless Internet for gaming?

It is essentially an ethernet connection through your mains. All our sockets are on the same circuit, but I don't think that it is essential. I bought a Devolo starter kit that has two plug adapters. I connected my router to one via the supplied ethernet cable and pluged it into the mains...

    Wireless Internet for gaming?

I have just switched from Wireless to homeplug. My issues were two fold and I think only linked to Vista. 1) I had to rely on the the native vista driver, which meant that every minute I was disconnected whilst it looked for a better signal. I could get round this by switching the zero...

Best time to go to China?

Although the major tourist sites are often a dissappointment, the Forbidden City is an exception. It really is amazing and if you end up in Beijing, a total must see. IMHO of course. As to timings I would be tempted to go either in the spring or the autumn. Avoid the extremes.

Daughter Crying at Nursery (parenting advice)

Definitely relax and keep to the routine. Says the man who had his daughter prised off him at nursery this morning. Although I know for 100% FACT that she stopped crying within 10 seconds of turning around. Scheming little madam. It's a good job she's cute.

How to get my invention idea started ?!

That will only be of use in the States where there is a first to invent system and then only if you are actually trying to make the concieved invention work. Almost everywhere else including the UK, there is a first to file regime where in order to get the patent you have to actually file the...

How to get my invention idea started ?!

Sorry but that will acheive precisely nothing as far as getting a patent is concerned. To get a patent you need to apply for one. A patentable invention is 1 Novel 2 Inventive or non-obvious 3 Industrially useful. To be novel the invention must not have been disclosed anywhere before...

    Another Problem Neighbour Thread

I really sympathise, I've had this happen to me twice. The bad news is that the only way it got resolved was either the other person or I moved. Keep bugging the council. If they still don't do anything, then threaten to go to the local rag. The Cambridge Evening News could do with something...

    DELETED_5350

An independent local bike shop would be the best bet. But it is worth learning how to sort them out yourself as it is not that hard. You can go a long way with a screwdriver, pliers and allen keys.

Spec me a road bike for £1k

There are three things that I would recommend for longish commutes 1) Clipless pedals - mountain type for commuting 2) Full mudgaurds - you need appropriate clearence for these. 3) Specialized Armadillo tyres, virtually puncture proof. The trouble is that the best sort of commuting bike is...

    What Road Bike?

I did the Three Peaks cyclo-cross race with Campag Veloce kit and it was better than the LX on my mountain bike at the time. See told you I was a fanboi.

    What Road Bike?

Nice to see some proper bikes in this thread. If you are commuting by road then a roadbike is the way to go. But I would also say that you should also get the mudguards and a rack to really make it comfortable. I have a Racelite T with Campag Veloce (although Daytona shifters). Campag, in...
