I did, couldn't really see a reason not to

    Bst should be kept permanently.

Would it be so difficult for places to just change their working hours a bit? Seems mad to me that our justification for the entire country's time zone is based on people in one specific area still being able to start work at 830. If they want to wait until it's light to start work... is there...

Bacon butties - with or without butter?

My family never cooked with or spread butter, blew my mind the first time I had a bacon sandwich with it.

Does anyone else struggle day by day, week by week with work?

I always hoped that having enough time off, working from home more etc would make me suddenly not care about all the crap. But nope, even now WFH 90% of the time I still get fed up of stupid stuff happening, poor management, smoke and mirrors, politics etc.

Do you charge your children "keep" or rent? Do/did you pay it yourself?

Exactly. You don't have to force people to learn things.

Do you charge your children "keep" or rent? Do/did you pay it yourself?

My parents knew I was saving virtually everything I could to buy my own place, so it would have been totally counterproductive to charge rent / keep. I would have agreed had they asked, but I wouldn't have been happy about it.

Spec me a toaster - long slots and deep?

Someone bought me a Dualit and I really like it. Probably a big part of that is that I didn't have to bankrupt myself. Nice toast.

How modern dog rescue centres operate nowadays

A friend of mine volunteered to drive around and do home inspections for a charity, got really fed up with it and gave in because she'd check out these houses and owners, endorse everything, and then the charity owner would veto it for literally any reason on the form - e.g. garden too small, or...

Can I get any better then a Playstation 3?

I would imagine that you'd save a lot of power using a modern player, which would be a big decider for me as I've been trying to cut back where I can.

    OcUK Dadsnet thread

I'm very careful in what I'd say to someone who isn't sure whether to have kids - it's a totally personal choice etc, but considering you're already on this journey I'll happily say the below. Yes, there are plenty of downsides. And when you look at them in isolation, it sounds like total...

A third of U25s haven't drunk alcohol in the past year

Does seem to be a major trend. People would rather go out for food than drinks. It's one of the main reasons why pubs are so different now - can't rely on selling alcohol alone for the next generation.

Payraise.. how much do you expect? how much did you get?

About 3% I think, it was pretty underwhelming. Not expecting anything this time round.

Will a new EU directive stop us repairing older cars?

As far as I can gather, the EU is looking at definitions of outdated cars etc. And some social media have spun it into "OMG they're going to ban repairing cars", which is pretty standard for EU-related freak outs. The reality is that drafting laws is extremely difficult, a lot of pressure...

    The Outer Worlds (Obsidian)

I played through this really recently and didn't bother increasing my combat skills until way later in the game. You can grab companions quickly which helps a lot - from memory Vicar Max is the second one you can pick up. Having two companions will help a lot. You can configure their...

Friend using my address for post

The credit report aspect isn't really true - see https://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/guides/location-and-address.html "Can the people I live with affect my credit score? Not unless you’re ‘financially associated’. This means you’ve applied for joint credit together, such as a bank account or...

Can I get scammed from a FB buyer?

I vaguely remember people talking about escrow services and similar in the early days of eBay, but I guess it never really got anywhere. I think you will always end up with this problem - imagine that you send me a phone. I can claim it's broken and that I want a refund, and then in theory I...
