    *** Nintendo Switch ***

Any ideas if Argos will be honouring reservations from before they were requiring payment? I've got a Neon one reserved that I won't be able to pick up until tomorrow - the reservation is valid until then, just not sure if they'll actually keep it with demand so high!

New NUC, HD5000, 4x USB 3.0, infrared sensor

Yeah, I'm using a years-old Microsoft MCE remote, but I guess newer MCE-branded remotes should work? It seems like you can't get hold of the Microsoft ones anywhere anymore (at least, I can't find a like-for-like replacement and this is 6 years old).

New NUC, HD5000, 4x USB 3.0, infrared sensor

I was lurking this thread for a while waiting for news of availability, then tuned out again when I got hold of my NUC last week. At first I was put off by the fan noise and thinking about getting a fanless case, then I played around in the BIOS settings and reduced the minimum fan speed from...

HP TouchPad - $99 in US - any sign of UK drop?

Have JUST got my dispatch email from Dixons finally, being delivered by Yodel. My Dixons order ID was just under 6200, if it's any guide for how close yours is..

HP TouchPad - $99 in US - any sign of UK drop?

Any word from them yet for you in way of dispatch confirmation? Still not a peep for me, even though they did actually charge my card (not just hold the funds) on Monday..

HP TouchPad - $99 in US - any sign of UK drop?

Yup, same. They're still saying the delivery team are working on it on their Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/dixonsdelivery It seems the order numbers are sequential, from the messages to that Twitter account I've seen them ranging from ending in 5800 through to 7900. I'm just past 6000, so...

In Cambridge? Gimme a shout if he's got some, I'm only next door! ;)

renault word series - free tickets

I looked for a thread about this, but presumed people weren't interested with it not being in the events calendar sticky. I've got two tickets, dragging my brother along, but it'd be cool to meet up with anyone down there. I'll be down on Saturday, and might go again on Sunday depending on...

    Extension Tubes

Sorry, I meant to do this earlier but fell asleep! Think I'm heading for the same again, so I've not done any processing here apart from a quick resize for web. As I said, with the breeze blowing flowers around and insects not keeping still, it's quite hard to get things in focus without...

    Extension Tubes

I've got the cheap ones off the auction site, as everyone says they have no electrical contacts so the aperture at its widest, and force you to use manual focus. They do allow you to focus ridiculously close to things, but it's difficult with insects (my favourite macro subject) which are...

    Superbikes @ Oulton Park

I went to the British Superbike Championship yesterday at Oulton Park. It's my second attempt at motorsport photography (after the F1 testing at Silverstone in April), shame there aren't more circuits up North to go to. I'm thinking about going to the Touring Cars at Donnington next Sunday...

Formula 1 Testing Silverstone 2006 (revised)

Here's my best photos from the day (took about 450, mostly of empty track!), I didn't quite get the hang of panning, but got a few OK ones towards the end of the day. Any comments/critique? 1. Went for a Top Gear style effect in Photoshop: 2. Coming out of the final corner 3...

Another Silverstone thread. Few shots from today.

Wow, you got great pictures. The panning's great on 1 and I like 5, looking into the pit. Proves my lens is capable of more and I need more practice before next time! :p

    F1 Testing Pics

I went today, being 5'9" the fence was a right pain! I managed to fit my lens through the holes to get some alright photos, but there was no room for a panning movement. I tried some panning shots on tiptoes over the top, but they didn't come out great. I bumped into Zheka a couple of times...

    Quite pleased with these today.....

The first one's fantastic, my favourite of the lot. On the third one, the blue in the foreground blends into the background a bit too much for me, not giving a diffinitive edge to the flower. As AndyBorzi says though, great colours throughout!

Formula 1 Testing Silverstone 2006 (revised)

So did anyone pick up one of the £10 passes? Are they worth it? Do you get them on the day? DLH, those pit shots are great, where were you to take those? And what kind of length lens?

Formula 1 Testing Silverstone 2006 (revised)

Great photos everyone, especially dlh! Anyone going on Thursday who fancies meeting up let me know on MSN ([email protected]) or AIM (SFrost007) and we can swap numbers or something. Can't wait :)

Formula 1 Testing Silverstone 2006 (revised)

Frosty == Simon, but most people call me Frosty anyway. I've never been before, but I've bought a Sigma 70-300 to take with me this week. 55mm isn't long enough to get a decent close up unless you're pretty close to the car (ie a few metres away)

    A few from Spain

Constructive criticism, they're all great and far better than I could do: As Colin said, they look a bit underexposed to me. They do look like they were taken in low light, but maybe bringing out a bit of detail in the shadows would improve them? The 2nd is the weakest of the three for me...

Formula 1 Testing Silverstone 2006 (revised)

Added :) I've never done any motorsport photography, but should be an interesting day. I'll be going with a few non-photo-mad mates, so if anyone wants to meet up I'm up for that (though won't know my way around!) My Sigma 70-300 APO came yesterday, so far I'm impressed. I've noticed...
