I liked that he brings up review conclusions concerning the 680, which you've got to admit were crazy, and was the major turning point for little improvement with high prices. Those review conculsions had absolutely no logic to them, reviewers went from saying 60% increase in perf at a same...

Oh yeah so they did forgot about that, went back and looked at the heatsink on the 6970, gotta admlt it looks way better/beefier than anything AMD have made since when it comes to heatsinks, of course that doesn't mean it would be better than what is on the vega, but damn look at that thing...

Isn't this the first time that AMD have used a vapour chamber/flat heatpipe type heatsink on a ref blower design, not sure ? If so, I guess that's at least a step in the right direction for AMD at least. But yeah it is hard to understand why the ref designs are usually so bad, especially at a...

Thanks. It's somewhat of a good thing that they are moving away from crossfire, I mean I prefer that they concentrate on single card optimization than using resources on crossfire for a minority of users. They could be hoping that explicit multi-gpu becomes a thing on dx12 still making it useful...

True it is doing a pretty good job at dissipating considering, but I still expect a 3rd party heatsink to do better. Wasn't it asus that already had problems with the direct heatpipe only making contact with half of the die or something like that ?

Thanks. Nah he came out and said that he did the testing before he removed the cooler, and just had some FCAT testing left to do after he put the heatsink back on : https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/review-asus-radeon-rog-rx-vega-64-strix-8gb.416698/page-2#post-5469841

The GPU could have had another problem appart from the vanilla bios (badly seated cooler or something) ? Because what surprised me the most when this came out is that the ASUS cooler wasn't performing much better on a vanilla bios out of the box as ref blower 64 out of the box, be it on heat or...

Euh are you sure about that one (genuine question) because I haven't seen any mention of cfx on any of the retail boxes (looked for as many amateur retail box photos as I could from all the different vendors), just as there is no mention on CFX on the AMD Vega page, it isn't even part of the...

I really don't understand why that game isn't part of the major reviewers games suite, it's nice, it's hard to run, hasn't got any major problems anymore, I think it's a good game to bench, i'm guessing it is because it is a pain because has to be downloaded everytime you reinstall windows (I...

I don't think it really has to do with getting free goods as much as it is to do with being able to put out videos on launch day (yeah of course not having to pay is a major plus), meaning most of them would probably buy the components if they had to (and if it was possible of course) to be able...

Way before the CITES law, and not just guitars with rosewood (and yes it's a joke, well applied to guitars it is anyways), and not just guitars for that matter either (everything guitar related, amps and whatnot) a lot of it is due to Asian factories becoming more "regulation" friendly, offer...

No other factors and not just a UK thing but worldwide (like PC gear didn't just go up in the UK), actually the £ loosing value is a good thing for me as I pay in euros, so a lot of the expensive hobby stuff I purchase, I buy in the UK at the moment, some great deals to be had !

"Nvidia Graphic Cards To see an Uplift in Prices come September"

That's always the case it seems (or maybe the excuse?), well at least for the past couple of years anyways, the smartphone manufacturers that bring up the price of Ram/flash/Vram , they have a way faster product release turnover than anything in the PC world, and there are way way more of them...

"Nvidia Graphic Cards To see an Uplift in Prices come September"

Exactly ! If people think GPU prices are going up a lot you should be happy that you're not a guitar enthusiast for example (i'm sure there are many more other examples), coz the price hikes in that market make the price hikes in the PC market look like chump change

If the person isn't interested in using the tech, the choice of the GPU is irrelevant, which means you do not consider yourself locked in because you aren't bothered (like myself) what you friend does is irrelevant, we are talking about people who said "they bought X gpu because they considered...

That is exactly the same reason why I didn't invest in VR because they were locking out games, with not being able to travel into the future it made the choice to dodgy

You people do realize that the whole point of each brand having their sync tech is to lock you into a brand right if you want to use that said tech? Just that Nvidia started it before and set the tone for the future market, and didn't want to adopt an industry standard (which isn't a good thing...

As I said something being free doesn't mean you are less locked in, having to pay a tech is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to being tied to a tech, that is two different problems, unless you are willing to either buy a screen every time you buy a GPU of have 2 screens you are locked in to...

Well to be fair the 64's were never really out of stock... They could be found in most places, they were just too expensive (and not 700£ expensive, less) or in combo packs and whatnot, there wasn't really a stock shortage, just the prices were f'ed up (because of a shortage apparently lol go...
