Millennia since I last built, any problems with this spec? i5 14600, 4070TI, for 4k gaming, image editing, transcoding

That's really helpful, and I greatly appreciate the advice on the 4080 over the 70ti. Regarding the case, could you please advise if you think the following would work: fans in the top and bottom of the case, HDDs in section 1 (instead of side intake) and 3 (the cage)? Would this work with an...

Millennia since I last built, any problems with this spec? i5 14600, 4070TI, for 4k gaming, image editing, transcoding

Hi all, it's been many years since i put together my current pc, and it's starting to show its age! I want to update and hopefully get something that will last for years. I am happy to spend £2-3k, but would like that to include a windows licence and a 4k monitor, if this is a reasonable goal...

My new K702s really hurt my head :( Any advice?

Very nice! I bought a replacement foam band for a different headphone and velcroed it on, huge improvement! :) Thanks for the advice all!

My new K702s really hurt my head :( Any advice?

I feel like all the weight is concentrated on one spot right in the centre of the top of my head, after half an hour or so of listening I start to feel like I'm developing a headache, but it's actually just the leather band pressing down on that one spot. Shifting the band forward helps for a...

Recommendations please: Study and Light Gaming, under £800, 15"

Thanks all, we went with the Lenovo Yoga 700, 14". Touchscreen, SSD, geforce 940m. Seemed to be the best option with only a slight compromise on screen size. It plays starcraft 2/rocket league just fine and the mrs is very happy overall.

Recommendations please: Study and Light Gaming, under £800, 15"

GF needs a new laptop for studies and games, so I'm doing some research. Games like Rocket League, Peggle. Study tools: Office, browsing, RStudio. 15-15.6" seems to be a good size to her. Nice to have but not essential: touchscreen. So far I've looked at Dell 15 7000 which looks...

    The long-winded thread

Making tea. Always, ALWAYS in a pot. I don't even particularly prefer the taste of pot-tea over teabag-tea. My colleagues think I'm old fashioned and odd. But you know what? Those extra few minutes away from my desk are worth it :)

Missing passenger side wing mirror on small panel van - illegal?

Regardless of the legality, without an interior mirror I'd say your rear vision is seriously hampered by this, I'd worry that if you did get into an accident you'd have very little defense in a dispute, and it could just be dangerous. Can you ducktape it on?

Thanks! I'll investigate those options and see if I can stretch my budget a bit!

Recommended upgrade for surround gaming, from HD7900

Edit: 7950. (HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795QC3G2M)) I keep getting "display driver stopped responding" since updating to win10 :( only when playing surround. Very annoying. Looking for a new card that hopefully won't have this problem. What's popular for...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

The basic option is a great little server, but just not enough grunt for several VMs in my experience. Expect to add £200-300 of hardware on top of the basic shell for a good VM server.

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

Thanks :) Think I've got it. Server's in the post, let's hope I don't screw this up too badly! At what point should I install BIOS updates, the downloads on HP suggest that you need to have the OS in place beforehand.

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

I've downloaded the HP specific image, and then separately visited http://www.vmware.com/uk/products/vsphere-hypervisor to get the client and a license for vSphere. Once concern is that the documentation states a technical minimum RAM as 4GB, the Proliant comes with 2GB, do I need to order...

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

Awesome, thanks Crow :) I'm good with the linux and plex stuff, but am new to ESXi. I've used VMs under windows before (HyperV) but never as the boot device. Do you know of a guide or walkthrough for installing/using ESXi with the Proliant? Is one of these the image I want...

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

Hi Little_Crow, could you please explain a little more how this works as using the Gen8 as a plex server could be a nice addition :)

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

Thanks for the suggestions and advice, the red>green tip is very helpful! I wasn't looking for performance gain from RAID5, the goal was least lost storage space. I'm changing my mind on RAID however, the amount of media I have makes it quite expensive, and losing a few movies isn't the end...

Help choosing a Low Power high capacity NAS for media storage

After a hard drive failure in my PC I'm looking for a way to offload my media to free up HDD space in my PC so I can add redundancy. I have about 6TB of media at the moment, and would like space to expand over time. What I'm looking for: Decent redundant capacity (4*3TB+ drives in...

    Upgrade to CMX4GX3M2A1600C9

    I bought a bundle some time ago: i5 2500 3.3Ghz Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 x 2 (8GB via 4 2GB sticks) Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 The bundle is overclocked to 4.4GHz, which is great! The problem is I'm starting to find the 8GB ram restrictive, so would like to...
