How often do you use a pen or pencil to write?

I’ve not read the thread so apologies if the discussion has moved on, but my answer to the OP, is a handful of times per year, when I’m writing birthday cards for my immediate family. Other than that, never.

Do you charge your children "keep" or rent? Do/did you pay it yourself?

I worked part time at Sainsbury’s when I was 16 and at college in full time education. I only worked weekends and earned around £365 a month; and my parents charged me £250 a month. This was back in 1997, that was fun. Totally happy with it though, as a solidly middle class lad, lucky enough...

    Mortgage Rate Rises

Comparing rates in isolation between countries is largely meaningless. What matters is overall affordability when accounting for average income and living costs, of which interest rates are but a single component; and affordability varies wildly between these countries. I do however find data...

    AMD Zen 5 rumours

Wowsers… I’m still on a 3950x that I purchased on launch and genuinely haven’t felt the need to upgrade. But if there’s any legs in these rumours whatsoever then I think I’ve found my next CPU.

Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

An excellent thread from Ed Conway, with some seriously shocking charts. Here’s the accompanying article: https://news.sky.com/story/british-firms-exports-are-almost-certainly-bolstering-russias-war-machine-in-ukraine-sky-data-analysis-finds-13077660

Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

They’re not the only ones, but the London School of Economics have done a fairly deep dive into this: It was always fairly obvious that erecting barriers to trade was going to contribute heavily to food inflation. If you make something more expensive to import, the cost is always going to get...

The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

I agree completely. Likewise, it was right to compare things Donald Trump said during his presidency to early, pre holocaust Nazi rhetoric. I mean, he hasn’t gassed people in chambers yet, but a lot of things happened to Jews prior to them being murdered en masse, so you can see where those...

Renouncing citizenship as a dual national

To be honest, I would still want one regardless. More rights > less rights. I was born with a lot of rights that extended across an entire continent, all of which I now no longer have. Even if I wasn't planning on making use of them in the way that I always have been, that still irks.

Renouncing citizenship as a dual national

Indeed. This thread prompted me to look into exactly that yesterday. It seems like among other benefits, I will not be subject to the 90 days per 180 day stay limit thanks to my wife having EU citizenship, should we choose to retire there. And with my two year old son also being able to get...

Renouncing citizenship as a dual national

It’s not an answer to your question, but I’m very jealous. My wife’s father was Irish so she can apply for an EU passport I believe; unfortunately I’m not so lucky. :(

So, this post office palaver then

You really fell hook line and sinker for it all didn’t you? ;)

So, this post office palaver then

You're right, I'm sorry. I've allowed this to go on far too long. Let's just move on. Even if it's just for the sake of my own sanity.

So, this post office palaver then

You don't realise how silly you look do you? For the fourth time... What actual action, that was within their remit, do you want the CPS to have taken when presented with evidence that turned out to be strong enough to secure a conviction? Why can't you tell us?

So, this post office palaver then

***Facepalm*** You do not understand what is meant by "check the reliability of the evidence". It means, is the source a reliable source? Is it circumstantial? Has process been followed? Does the witness statement that the entire case rests upon have a history of perjuring themselves? Is the...

So, this post office palaver then

Precisely. It is not the job of the CPS to double handle and repeat the investigations of the Police or any other investigatory unit. The idea is totally ridiculous in every way. Could you imagine the cost? Their job is to ensure that the evidence provided by these units meets a threshold...

So, this post office palaver then

Good grief. Please just put us out of our misery and answer this question: If you're so confident that what you say it correct, then it should be trivial for you to describe a very specific action that you think should have been taken by the CPS; one that comes under their remit and would...

So, this post office palaver then

Actually people care about facts, reason, and what is or isn't true; along with justice, and wanting to see it properly served. You on the other hand appear to care about little more than desperately attempting to establish a tenuous link to the target of your political derision. It's...

So, this post office palaver then

 I'm laughing at you, your childish petulance, your broken reasoning, and your gross attempts and what is shameful, political opportunism. I'm sorry that you're so over-sensitive that you can't handle a little laugh emoji cropping up against your wittering.

So, this post office palaver then

Indeed. Perhaps in @n111ck land we should be rounding up the members of the public who had the gall to sit on the jury and listen to the (now known to be fraudulent) evidence, before finding them guilty. It's almost as if all anyone can do, is make a judgement based upon the evidence they...
